If you are looking for a rare renovation project...look no more. Here is a rare 1964 Corvair Rampside pick up that was purchased in 1965 with 12,000 miles on it. It ran and drove 31 years ago with 46,000 actual miles when it was parked and still with the owner since 1965. The engine still turns over and I have the title and repair books for it as well. Asking $2,500 OBO Call 269-254-4239.

I have to respectfully disagree - Rampsides ARE rare.
Especially a 1964 Rampside - only 851 were made and it was the last year Rampsides were made.
They are actually quite a rare vehicle by Chevrolet production standards.
Fewer Rampsides were produced than Corvettes!
1961 Rampside - 10,787 --- Corvette 10,939
1962 Rampside -- 4,102 --- Corvette 14,531
1963 Rampside -- 2,046 --- Corvette 10,919 conv. 10,594 coupe
1964 Rampside ---- 851 -- Cprvette 14,925 conv. 8,304 coupe

The difference is back in the 1960s Rampsides were not well accepted in the market, so they were phased out.

Oh gotcha. He brought his cave car to one of the car shows in Adrian and won a trophy, I was there in my van too, but i didnt enter.

Thats what I thought, I bother to check the production numbers though.

I think what Matt was getting at was that as RARE as everyone insists Rampsides are, there is never a shortage of them that are for sale. I know of about six in SoCal right now that are for sale in different venues or for sale and not advertised.
It is true that '64 models don't come up for sale very often.
The problem with buying a Rampside is that whether the price is $700 or $5000, they all seem to have the same amount of rust. Sometimes it's just hidden better.

LOL, I have to agree. Actually there are three kinds of Rampsides: Rusty but repaired, Rusty, and Terminally Rusty. While there are always Rampsides for sale, 90% fall into the Rusty and Terminally Rusty category. Even mine, from the desert climate of Western Washington, had a little rust.

I'm in the process of breathing life back into a terminally rusty...basically, putting it on life support for a few years of hauling yard waste duty...

I agree on the 3 types of rampys!

Rampsides are like retirement homes for rust. I have no idea how mine is staying together anymore. rust, rust everywhere. I think they were made from rust.

All the Greenbriers I've seen also fit into one of those categories too. Same rust in the same places.

Well I Was going to go take a peak at it as it's only about 3 hours away. From reading the posts though, it seems like there's a black cloud forming. Hard to tell but it looks like it's caved in on both sides and I really don't need to battle another rust bucket.
