I'm the second ownner of this '66 Monza 110/4. It was bought in NJ, then driven to SC. In the early 1990's it was brought to this island to be "island car" for a summer family. I bought it from them for $650 - they wanted thousands more - in 2007.

I've spent most of my time with the car driving it and repairing broken components, replacing worn out parts and getting every system to function. Save for the very odd running problem this past spring/summer, the car has earned its keep here and as the "mainland car" [BTW, the last two times I've use the car on 1-2 hour drives, it has run perfectly. Go figure!].

I've put about $1,400 in replacement parts [brake cylinders and lines, fuel lines, rebuilt carbs, flywheel, engine wiring harness, rear axle assembly], and about $300 for maintentance parts [ignition parts, oil filters, etc.].

I've also purchased a couple of rattle cans with the exterior paint color and installed free sheepskin seat covers [from a friend's Land Rover Defender].

Jeff
I bought the car with 117,000 miles on it and now have 129,000.

$750 for the rampside, $500 for the sedan, $650 for the '64 coupe. I will not mention the newly acquired '62 coupe from Arizona as it cost more than double all the others.... and I am STILL awaiting paperwork from Sacramento.

I paid $2550 for this on ebay a few years back. The po was/is active here, he lamented that it had been bid on and met reserve, but was going to lose his shirt on it if it sole at that price. I looked, it was the second hour of a 7 day auction, and placed a bid to show interest. In 7 days no one else bid on the car, and I had to borrow the money.,

I picked it up from ART LANDIS the next week, and promptly blew the engine 70 miles down the road. We towed her home, Ron T rebuilt the engine. Add 500 bucks for an inexpensive rebuild.

I drive this car 5 days a week when there is no salt on the roads. It has been in the local World of wheels twice, but not in the past 2 years. the paint is peeling badly in some places, bubbling in others. The engine screams! My GPS is locked at 90.5 MPH coming back from Cedar Rapids convention. Here she is:

Here is my daily driver; 69 monza, 2 speed PG. It became my daily driver through a series of events. First my house burned down last July, my trusty '02 Saturn survived but with severe cosmetic damage. I then purchase the Corvair has a hobby project. One day while repairing the brakes my brother asked to borrow the Saturn to get parts for his '75 Dodge Dart. During his drive home he was the victim of a hit and run, totaling my beloved Saturn. Together we fixed my brakes in the Corvair or "Babs" and I have been driving it ever since.

Here is a photo of "Babs" in the rebuild of my home.

1 MUST BE A CORVAIR
2 Must be Driven often, Licensed and insured [ Please be honest!]
3 Not normally garaged or entered in shows [ "Cruise-ins" are OK ]
4 No more than $3,000.00 in the car [ be truthful if OVER! ]
5 No "$$$$ paint" [ Maaco, Did it yourself are fine ].
6 NO "Hot deals" ie:your brother gave you the car or you traded a beer for it, etc. [ unless it's a real "Rat" ggg ]

My '66 Corsa Coupe - Purchased for less then $500, as a body shell, filled with parts. It was originally part of a deal I was making for 4 cars, and a large building full of parts, but relocating with work made me only take this car. $150 in the 95hp engine in it. Probably $1500 total in the car, as it sits. The only rust on the car is a small spot on the pass quarter - but it has lots of bondo filling dents. Its originally a black on black, Corsa, Turbo, remote mirror car.

Unfortunately, it meets all above, though is garaged (I have a 24x48' shop - aside from my garage -why would I NOT garage it).

I'm less than $200 into my '66 Corsa so far after getting a good deal on it. I'm sure that # will climb come spring.

I paid $1500 + 2 Vw air-cooled engines for it.

$2,400 to buy my '61, $775 repair bill, $800 in whitewall tires, and about $300 on other odds and ends, also $20 for a rattle can of touch-up paint. It is only parked in the garage at night, but driven everyday.

I'll post my grandpa's 1962 Canadian Monza!

It was last painted in the 1980's and garaged for years,
but we keep it outside and cover it now. we drive it everyday
since it's the only one running and uses less gas out of 12 cars!

I recently changed the heads but I don't think the old heads
were bad, I think it was just a loose head stud. I put on roller rockers,
aluminum pushrod tubes, finned oil pan, deep aluminum rocker covers, CD changer,
cassette player....new shocks. New tires.

Popped both tires driving it to Las Vegas and Phoenix. Drove it to Denver Corvair Convention in 2011 and had to get towed 150 miles due to grinding wheel bearing! Changed axel in parking lot for $20 and made it home! Lots of people gave me support! Mr Fox in CO Springs CO helped me change the U joint, and helped me when the head had trouble in Tahoe Convention 1999....

Drive the car all the time....fun to drive! Gets lots of attention!

Next thing to do is hook up the hi volume blower fan and
change a noisy ball joint. Also I just stripped out an axle yoke
after leaving Idyllwild CA from the Fan Belt Toss in Palm Springs, CA
in October.

I've had my car about three years now, It was given to me from my dad as a (death gift) as he puts it, no he's not dead he just wanted me to have it before he dies.
It gets entered into one show a yea,r The Vetrans Day Car show in Bastrop TX. We never win but it sure gets alot of looks.
I drive my car to work about three times a month 102 miles round trip, I drive it more around our town and my wife drives it to her work a couple times a month as well 30 miles round trip for her.

I bought my Corsa 140 4-speed last year on a whim. Maybe I shouldn't have but oh, well. Yes, I paid less than 3k for it but I have more than that in it right now what with new tires, brakes all around, 4 rebuilt carbs and various other mechanical bits. Yes it's registered and insured but as a driver it's still not running right so the only miles clocked are test ones-and not too many of those at the moment. Maybe next year. Below are the pictures as I found her.
