Chevrolet didn't build convertibles between 1976 and 1985. The '75 Corvette was the last (along with the Caprice) and the '86 Corvette was the first return.

Wouldn't ANY English Ford have a Ford engine? With an American engine, the other would be the AC Ace / AC Cobra with 260/289/427 engines.

Ask them what the round thing on the left side of the car protruding from the dash is.

It is the steering wheel!

I would be willing to guess many don't know that it is more important than the little portable keyboard in their hand.confused smiley

What production car built in this century was hand built with an aluminum frame as well as many of the body panels along with composite materials and weighs about 2800 lbs.

Hints:

This car was built under two different brand names by the same parent company, one of which is no longer making cars today.

This car had no options for the most part, was only available in one color during it's first year of production (last century) with other colors available in later years.

This car has individual fenders that turn with the front wheels.

I believe that the reason Chevrolet didn't produce convertibles during the years 1976 - 1985 was because of a government concern for safety. I don't think any manufacturer built converts during those years. The question relates to the fact that Chevrolet failed to produce a convertible by choice. The economy was still on the rebound.

Would that all-aluminum DOHC engine be the Cosworth Vega? (Or perhaps a Dusenberg?)

There were no government regulations. Buick, Ford and Chrysler started selling convertibles again in 1983. MG still sold convertibles in the US until they stopped selling cars here in 1980. Triumph's TR7 and TR8 were available as convertibles until 1981. Any company not selling convertibles did so as a choice, not because of government regulation.
