() Date: April 06, 2012 01:41AM Convertible: wind noise, factory quick steering too tough for easy relaxing driving (will swap out soon), exhaust too loud (will fix soon, have all parts), front suspension has a bit of wear (have new one rebuilt and ready to bolt in) and the occasional sticky secondary Turbo coupe: Hates cold starts, hates hot starts (typical turbo BS im told), and the fact I dont drive it enough...seems like I always forget its there... () Date: April 06, 2012 02:00AM And to keep on topic...5th gear would be really nice. I would also like to have a nice rack-and-pinion with quicker steering than my factory box. see, I don't drive my Vair like a sports car so I actually kind of enjoy the "pulling the bucket up from the bottom of the well" feeling I get when making a turn with my Corvair. () Date: April 06, 2012 03:03AM All the above comments just prove that you are all spoiled by OD transmissions and quick PS in your modern cars. It also backs what I often tell people: its not so much the engines that make the new cars perform so well, its the transmissions! Just imagine how well your new car would perform with a Corvair PG in it! Corvair steering isnt that slow, and its safer because it'll keep you from cornering to fast. The majority of the complaints in the post above are repairable too. Dan Brizendine, '64 8door Greenbrier 140 PG. () Date: April 06, 2012 09:40PM I haven't seen this one yet, unless I missed it. The oil leaks. Mine practically hemorrhaged when I first started it up this spring in my mom's garage, after it wetted numerous layers of newspaper over the winter. After totally warmed up it stopped, but enough already. ----------------------------- Dave Columbus, OH '66 Monza convertible '73 Eldorado convertible [picasaweb.google.com] Re: what is your biggest complaint when driving your vair? () Date: April 06, 2012 10:25PM When the cell phone rings and you try to drive a four speed with no pwer steering. That is not fun. Oh yeah.....and having to get out of it. I love driving my car. Re: what is your biggest complaint when driving your vair? Posted by:

() Date: April 06, 2012 10:48PM I wish they came with a cup holder. It is next to impossible to drive a 4 speed & hold a cup of coffee. I stopped trying. Brad Taylor Glendora, CA 1966 Monza (Corsa clone) Re: what is your biggest complaint when driving your vair? Posted by:

() Date: April 08, 2012 12:41AM VairDeb writes- As for the cup holder- get one of the big bottom cups so it sits on the passenger seat. If you have a passenger IN the seat- have them hold it- easy fix. As I do drive mine every day (70+ miles), I am quite happy with what Chet has built for me, I am especially fond of the 110's whether with a PG or 4-speed. I do have to leave early when I go somewhere, though, as I always have people asking about the car or telling me their Corvair story. I had to go for jury duty this week and some woman pulled in behind me and said she followed just to ask what year the coupe was as her mom gave her driving lessons in an early coupe. We have been followed into the gas station so pictures could be taken of the truck. All kinds of stuff like that. You'd think as long as my yellow Vairs have been chugging up and down this area I would have run into every former Corvair owner around here by now. I've witnessed too many near-accidents almost caused by some dayum fool chattin' on their phone and NOT paying attention to their driving. ![]() Re: what is your biggest complaint when driving your vair?
