my dune buggy has a ford steering column in it i think it is. any way.it has 9 wires coming from it. colors are green (wht/blu) (grn/wht) (orn/blu) (grn/orn) (wht/red) blue yellow and dark blue My ? is there a main hot wire i should run from fuse box to it

Since you do not know exactly what Ford it came from...
Use a Meter to read out the leads.... or get a friend to...
If you knew what year and model... there are free online wiring diagrams for most older cars..

There is no single hot wire going to the column. The Ford column colors are:
Hazard flasher white/red
Turn flasher blue
Brake switch green
Horn contact yellow
Rt. rear turn orange/blue
Lt. rear turn green/orange
Rt. front turn white/blue
Lt. front turn green/white
The power to the column comes from either the brake switch or one of the flashers. The horn contact provides a ground to the horn relay.
