Front end suspension kit
Posted by: Dixie3500 ()

Hi there
I am from Denmark, and I recently purchased a Corvair Monza 1966 in very good running condition.
Even then I´ll give it a full "workover"
A lot of the parts I´m going to buy from Clark´s
But in this forum I read that the cheap complet frontend suspension kit on ebay to around 200 dollar was considered to be "top dollar" stuf.
Problem is that every time I bid on it ( 11karkrazy ) I´m rejected due to "no shipping to Denmark". Well, he don´t have to ship to Denmark as a use a shipping company in New Jersey. The parts has to be shipped to NJ only..
If i click "ask a qustion" I´m told that "seller don´t answer questions" :-(
Anyone know a mail adress to this seller: 11karkrazy??

My Monza is a 110HP version. But I have purchased a Long engine wit a pair of supposed good 140HP heads. They will of caurs be reconditioned before use.
Are they a "direct fit" on my 110HP cylinders. Or will it be better to recondition and use the cylinders from the 140HP engine??
For the 140 heads I have purchased 2 pcs 28/32mm carburators, made for Fiat 124 Spyder. Then I´ll try to convert the inlet manifold to have one of those progresive carbs at center of each inlet manifold. And I plan to make adaptors to reuse the stock ctr airfilter, to keep "close to stock" apperence.

Will also be fitted with electronic ignition ( conversion kit ), home build exhaust manifold for better flow, ending out in 2 x 2" outlet pipes.

Any good idea regarding my plans. Thumbs up or down :-)
Most of all for now, pls help me to get in contact with 11karkrazy :-)

Thanks

Welcome to the CCF!

The 140 heads are direct fit... and since you are modifying.. will be fine...

The plan sounds just fine.... stock carbs are approx. 26 mm...on a stocker.

Get someone in the U.S.A. to buy the kit and ship to your shipper...

Hi again

Regarding cam for my engine.. Consider the Isky 270 or Otto -20
Does the SBC lifters fit in a Corvair engine ( still not opened )
In that case I might try a set of Rhoads lifters to get a more slow street cam behaivor below 3500 rpm??

Again,.. any good ideas??

Thanks

Looks like that guy will not deal with anyone outside the U.S. at all - must have US Paypal address etc. I've long since given up trying to deal with recalcitrant sellers - why should I put any effort into doing business with someone that obviously doesn't want my business?

I'm sure some of the recognized Corvair vendors will be able to supply the same kind of kit - and if the price is not competitive it would make me wonder about the source of karkrazy's parts!

Would it be possible for you to work it out with your shipper in NJ for you to use their address as a shipping address instead of Denmark.? I don't think the ebay seller would care as long as it goes to a US address.

Hi MattNall

Thanks for your comments, and yes that´s the kit!
Maybe you don´t agree that it is a good kit?
Clark´s have a complete kit, but at more than 600 dollar

Read the auction - US ONLY all over the place, even in terms of payment. Why support this guy? Buy from one of our vendors. Clarks, Corvair Underground, whoever - will probably be happy to ship to Denmark!

For $200 I'd be concerned about the quality of the parts.

Hej Ole. I'm from Randers, have many friends in Herning. Remember going to the college in Tvind to see one of the first windmill projects in the country about a hundred yrs ago lol. Lived in Valby (Copenhagen) for a while and pretty much have family and friends all over the country. My dad was born in Odense (birth place to Hans Christrian Andersen). Parents immigrated to the US when I was 5 yrs old and I have lived all my life in So. Calif since then. If there is anything I can order for you, let me know. There is also another guy on this forum (Claus). He lives in Glostrup and maybe you guys could meet up. He has an early vair.

I bought two front suspension rebuild kits from this guy as well as Kantors: [www.ebay.com]

Yes, they're quality parts. Just as good or better elsewhere. Even the bushings have HARRIS on them. I would say they're comparable to MOOG or TRW.

$200 is a good deal. It's unfortunate that he doesn't ship overseas.

I don't buy much on ebay, but buy a lot on line, so I use a US address. I have 4 US telephone numbers (Magic Jack) and a US fax line (faxes come as pdf emails). Often use my gmail account so it won't show up as my Bolivian address.

Sometimes get caught up in IP addresses, but then have my daughter order in Va.

It is amazing how stupid some people are. I like suppliers like Clarks, CU, MiniSport, and a few others who don't care where it is going, as long as they have your payment.

Don't buy those front end parts. They are Junk. I bought a kit like that for my 03 gmc truck. They only lasted 1 year. Then I had to do it all over again. You get what you pay for. Clarks usually has deals like old stock Moog.TrW

I rebuilt the front suspension in Debbie's '63 convertible and '61 Monza sedan almost two years ago using the same kits on Evilbay. Never had any issues with installation nor quality.

These are just a sample of front suspensions that I rebuilt using components/kits from Kantors and Evilbay:

Hi all, and thanks for good help and advises.

I do anyway have a lot to order from Clark´s, and I think that I´ll bye the suspension parts from them also.

More expensive, maybe better but who knows for sure, but I like to keep my number of supplyers a bit down.

Already prepered orders for: Summit, Clark´s, rockauto ( brake parts ), and a few from evilbay!!

Vairchet: Looking good. I´m restoring a Chevy C10 65 pickup, and frame and all suspensionparts ( even new parts ) has been: Sandblasted, Zink metalicied (sprayed with hot liquid zink, and with electric cable to parts ), sanded down and finally 2-component epoxy coated. Looking same good as yours and prepeared for the harsh Danisk klima..

If I dont answer on the Forum, it is not to be unpolite. But I am engineer on a tanker vessel, and at sea right now, and sometimes we are without internet contackt for a number of days.

Regards Ole
