I got to the important stuff today with the noce weather

I also found out why my feet were always cold, and the windshield never defrosted.

I thought the floors felt kind of solid for what I saw underneath... Someone got to the front the same way

I don't think this car qualifies as a rustbucket anymore. I sucked up a bucket of rust into my shop vac. Maybe i will get better gas milage?

I said to hell with the padded dash and just bought a new one. I did alot of work this weekend.

Here we go!

I think i like this as a final door setup. there is something very innocent and cute about it, i had to take it all apart to get the metal strips on the new panel that i forgot about tongue sticking out smiley

I ran a can of seafom down the carbs, MAN does that stuff help! could hardly get it to 80 before.

This is where the heater dividers under the rear seat bolt up, this one only had one hole punched, the other side had the opposite hole only punched

I decided that the car was to loud in the cabin, so i tried my own little sound/air/heatproofing, and got the oval heat tubes in.

The heater blows so damn hot now that even without tubes going into them the rockers got hot as hell half way up!

Ahh that new carpet smell, and a plastic sheet under it to keep the wet out of my nice new stuff tongue sticking out smiley

This is the rear seat as i got it.

This is after 5 hours of fiddlin' around, and an entire 100 count box of hog rings lost to learning. I didnt like the padding on the vinyl only, so i wrapped each set of springs in an old blanket before putting the vinyl on

This is as far as i got before it got dark and the mosquitos found me. I found 2 rear floor Hello Kitty mats that were the same pink/white/black as the interior for $8 smiling smiley

Notice that the nice front mat is TOO WIDE sad smiley i thought maybe the full one would work in a vert sad smiley it's a clarks "second" but i dont see any reason its not a "first", I cut the shifter hole already, anyone have ideas/trades?

Final for the evening- I am looking for a side mirror, doesnt have to be fancy, just round. also, anything to do with taillight covers, they dont have to be for a 64 per se, just a matching 4 set thats not all broke to shit.

my whitewalls started peeling on one tire- Diamondback Tires in south carolina have garbage service. I sent them pictures at their request and just get put on hold indefinitly whenever i call. NOT good service for a $200+ tire.

Bummer on the whitewalls...

At least you are in control of the rest of the work on the car!!

Getting close... just in time for Summer!

Why the "Hello Kitty" theme?

I believe you are referring to the transverse spring, which was for '64 only. Search for transverse spring.

thankyou! smiling smiley the leaf spring bolts to the underside of the differential (64 only again) then bolts to the A-Arms on either side, the spring pulls the tires down and pushed the engine up. without it the engine is a few inches off the ground and the wheels are tipped in dramatically.

Correct.. the 64 Coils are super soft... because they used the transverse leaf..supposedly 40% of the weight is carried by it.

I will post some shameless pictures on sunday when its sunny out.

what side should the levers be on? right now they are on the left by the door sills.

just because im bored... These fake flowers have all been taped together, and will be squished under the dash trim at the windshield. It will help cover the glare from the white dash without being sight-hindering

Another weekend, another show, and more work on the vair!

first, something pretty.

first things first- rusty pitted dash sad smiley This was a mess, its a good thing i have several clusters hanging around.

but eventually i got it all together and clean (the lights are super bright now that the overlays are clean!) funny note about installation- the gas gauge and wiper wires are the same, but if you get them switched around, you light a fire REAL quick trying the wipers tongue sticking out smiley

Next came the long-due radio bezel (i still need a nice 64 faceplate)

The worst part about the weekend was lighting a fire under the dash with the heater blower switch. (seperate from above) It turns out that the polish resister in the right defrost vent had some stuff fall into it. OLD stuff. there were 2 of these, the other melted into something resembling modern art.

finally, i built a speaker mount that didnt do an MC Escher impression. stainless is tough crap.

One of the speakers in the kit from clarks blew out on me! it still makes sound but buzzes like hell on lower notes. I am using the original radio, and noticed in listening to The Crests (16 Candles) so I surely was not abusing it. Is clarks pretty good about that stuff? ive only had it installed for 3 weeks sad smiley
