hmm... i have an 85 ford van with a 350 4bbl that i have always wanted to drag race...

looks like the weld it on backwards if they planed to use in on a normal Vair "inkate". With the carb plate mounted upright, the compressor outlet is pointing up?

ALso, I bet if you unbolted the adapter plate, it would be a spread bore pattern.

I have a plenum like that. The plenum is open so it does not matter if the carb is a square bore or spread bore.

It has a welded on carb adapter. No idea what it goes to. Set up wrong for a Corvair, blower would be forcing air at the 'firewall'.

In its stock (as new) form, a 301E is too big for any 'Vair cubic inches. I have one that was run on a 327 SBC. You can use 2 of these on a BBC. Can you tell me what is electric engraved on the brown Rajay tag? I can't make it out on my phone. Also could you look in the Exhaust inlet and post the numbers after the A/R? Its too bad they welded the carb plenum to the inlet. The plenums were drilled for coolant heating, not oil. The size of the passages would cause oil pressure problems on a Corvair, if oil was ran through them.

Good point. How about heating the plenum passively using engine heat? The original turbo Buicks and some late 70s Mopar engines did it using exhaust heat.

You would probably be better off selling the turbo without the plenum/compressor housing assembly. Or find a find an E-flow compressor housing and sell it as it was originally configured.

Also, As YenkoYS-100 noted, the A/R number should be cast into the inside of the exhaust housing inlet. That would be good info to post as well.

If you find out the numbers I asked about....please post them here. It's apparent to me, that they changed something, and that would explain the crossed out, and renumbered part on the Rajay tag.

Who knows.......if the exhaust housing still matches my 301E, I may be interested? Thats what I need with $5 a gallon gas, is a twin-turbo Big Block Chevy. LOL

Exaust housing has "AR .08" cast into it.

All I can get from the hand engraved numbers on the compressor are the last two wich are 80. The first is illegable.
