() Date: February 23, 2012 01:29AM Does the Monza/Corsa Black Glove Box Surround sit on top of the metal dash and simply bolt on or is it a replacement for the one piece of the 500 dash? 1966 Corvair 500 Base 110hp/AT 57k miles Mods: New Blue Carpet Monza Black Bucket Seats Monza Black folding rear seats Monza Glovebox Rafee Chrome Air Intake K&N pcv filter High Performance Silicone Spark Plug Wires Chrome Hi Po Ignition Coil Re: Glove Box Surround Trim Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2012 01:54AM It's an overlay that is held on by screws below, inside the glove box door and a long metal retainer that has 4 studs above the glove box. It clamps the top section to the dash metal. Pretty complex piece of trim, with all the holes that had to be made to accommodate it and it's no slam dunk to install, either! ~ Dan - Seattle/Tacoma ~~ "Have Canon - Will Travel"Phone (412)CORSA65 ~ CORSA Western Director + Corvairs NW + North Cascades Corvairs + Corvanatics, the FC group 1966 Corsa Turbo coupe ~ ~ 1966 140 Corsa ~ 65 Monza 140/4 'Vert Sierra Tan/Fawn (my current driver!!) ~ 1964 Monza 'Vert ~ 65 Monza 140/4 Evening Orchid w/ ivory/black int.(future project)~ 1962 Monza Wagon 102/4 ~ 63 Rampside/Scamper ~ 1963 Greenbrier ~ 1969 Ultra Van #468 Re: Glove Box Surround Trim Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2012 03:37AM Yes and the 65 glove box surround is aluminum (to show the bright edge) and the late 66 surrounds are steel (since they were completely painted, no shiny edge trim). So if you buy one make sure it's the aluminum bezel if you have a 65 gauge cluster. Re: Glove Box Surround Trim Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2012 01:19PM Anybody got a picture of the long metal retainer? I can't find a diagram in any of the manuals. PO took it aprt and I'm putting mine back together. I didn't know there was a retainer. I thought it just hung on screws at the top. J.Miller Buffalo,NY Re: Glove Box Surround Trim Posted by:

() Date: February 23, 2012 07:00PM "So the dash top would have to come up to get it installed?" No, the dash top doesn't have to be removed. I installed a black surround to match a Corsa dash in my '66, without the retainer. As J. Miller posted you can install it without the metal strip retainer. I think the strip was added to prevent the passenger from accidentally catching the edge and bending the surround if there was no retainer.
