Dean,
Can't wait to see the finished car. Do you have a target date?
I agree that it will be a "head turner"

Jerry,

I am hoping to have it back from the body shop by summer.

When I originally dropped off the car to the body shop, they said "it will take 2 months".

So, naturally, I figured it would realistically be more like 6-8 months, especially since I have made some changes along the way.

Then I have to install the front suspension, install the engine, then find & install some nice looking rims & tires.

But it's all good because I have the blue 64 vert to drive and work on in the meantimesmileys with beer

More progress on the custom interior for the 69 vert.

They finished the front buckets and the bottom rear seat:

Those look great! I love custom Vairs. These seats might be just what I will need for my GTP Monza project, a lot of seats look goofy without the headreasts but yours look great. I wonder if 2 buckets would fit in place of the back seat? My car will be a 4 seater.

4 buckets would be cool with a custom center console running from the shoulders of the rear buckets all the way up to underneath the dash! smoking smiley

Glad to see the green interior is going bye-bye. Personally, I would have left the headrests in for safety reasons. Just in case some moron rear-ends you. sad smiley

Greg,

The new two-tone interior will be absolutely gorgeous compared the former pea green scheme, IMO.

I agreed to go with George's recommendations when it came to the seats, despite the reduced safety factor of the "shaved" headrests.

My reasoning was that I'm rolling the dice each time I drive the blue 64 vert with stock seats, so I'll assume that added risk in exchange for the head-turning look of the custom interior on the 69. smileys with beer

Dean,
I've seen the Neon seat treatment on a couple of different Vairs and am still a fan. BUt I have to ask: I see the receiver end of the seat belt attached to the front seat, what are you using for the mail end, especially in a vert? I doubt that the original flat tab from Chevy fits the Neon receiver. Am I wrong? TIA.

John,

Candidly, I'm not sure.

Realistically, I will probably remove the receiver from the seats and install stock belts.

BUT, I am certainly willing to consider alternatives...

Custom center console is nearing completion.

The PG shifter lever will be relocated from the dash.

You can see the shifter bezel mounted along with two stainless cup holders.

The top section will contain a very nice "double din" stereo CD/DVD unit.

(Cell phone photo is not very good...)

@Ryan: sticking with the PG for now...maybe forever.

My plan is for this to be my "forever" car.

Therefore, I want the ease of driving a PG for when I am much older and the knees don't work so wellgrinning smiley

Not to mention, I really liked the relocated PG lever in the Jeff Lily Corvair
