Thanks, so far I there is one inch that is free and don't know what's next till I do a dry fit.

Moves the alt and A/c down will help my hood lock.

Are you running a Corvair transaxle or something else? If Corvair, I'd be happy to take a nicely aligned top-view shot to show where the engine lands in the chassis.

So Double Pass Radiatoers run 20% cooler and there are 13" X 22" wide under 10 lbs. and just under $300.00.

After an hour on the phone with Afco, I am a believer this will work in my can.

I have an Afco double pass aluminum rad in my car; it's about 18 x24. I'm sure the rad is enough but coolant flow over the long distance is a problem (I have the smallest possible water pump pulley and a relatively large crank pulley to maximize WP rpm and I have the larger 215 A/C waterpump. I'm considering an inline electric pump to boost flow.

Also, with my rad airflow coming in under the front bumper and out the trunk floor, I get some recycling of hot air off the and rad back into the rad intake when the car is not moving. (I have only a stock air dam).

I keep making tweaks that have improved cooling but idling on a hot day is still a problem. (temps skyrocket). This fall I added a wetting agent to the coolant and it hasn't gotten hot since but then it hasn't been hot outside either. The jury is still out on its effectiveness.

Here are some installation shots showing the relationship of the engine to the rear rail.

In a nutshell, the rear edge of the water pump inlet is even with the rear rail. So anything aft of the water pump inlet and below the water pump inlet will require cutting of the rail, including fan belt paths.

The top of the crankshaft is even with the top of the rear rail and the inner (forward) edge of the belt is even with the rear rail so anything attached to the balancer will require frame rail clearance.

Hope this is helpful.smiling smiley

Thank you.

How deep is your crank pulley?

Both Ray & Joe had there 215 v8 set up and working for 5 years.

Craig replies:
Measuring from the block flange (for the oil pan) the rear face of the balancer is 2 5/8" away and the rear edge of the belt pulley is 4 7/8 from the block flange. Yours is probably less because you have v-belt pulleys, not the wider serpentine belt pulleys I used.

You may need to do some re-engineering on your belt (unless you just put the belt there for pulley alignment). Were you aware that the water pump has to run on the back side of the belt to make it turn in the normal (not reversed) direction? Gates makes double sided v-belts for this purpose. I decided to go with serpentine because the selection of double-v belts is pretty thin. See the picture below re driving the pump off the backside of the belt.

Re serpent belt choice: It never dawned on me that the thicker pulley would interfere with the engine air exhaust grille!

FWIW, my air cleaner is 6" higher than the thermostat flange on the intake and it barely fits under the hood - it made an impression in the hood insulation.

Your radiator plan sounds good. I was thinking of something like that but decided to go with the tried and true. (a bit of a mistake 'cause the rear engine config causes the cooling pipes to be twice as long as a Crown mid-V8)

Looking Good though!smileys with beer

Ordered a 2" Two groove lower crank pulley off a 455 Buick that and a SBC single groove will work but it hit the water pump so I spaced the upper pulley to line up the alt, done.

That last picture shows a nice job as well as I have to cut. There is shop 100 miles from me the make HB and show a Rover to fit the 215 v8 BOP can work, but they can make anything.

I did see there HB for a Buick with 1V groove this would make my lower HB the driver and so you can run the belt to the dual a/c, alt from there and Buick GN have a E water pump I have my eye.

First thing first, the motor mount. This should have been running by now.

Air cleaner clearance with the Offenhauser flat intake will let me run my 4" cowl set up. Thanks for you help and time for the pictures, I will show some soon.

Here's a page of gates double v-belts. Their part number is AA followed by the length in inches. AA62 is a 62" belt, for example. They're available in 51-128" lengths. This catalog info is hard to find - trust me!

The Isetta picture shows how water pump reversal is done with a double v-belt and v-belt pulleys.

Did your 215 come already set up for reverse rotation? - if so, man is that cool!

I have the AFCO 31 x 19 double pass in mine, runs on thermostat temp while idling or around town cruising and slightly below at highway speeds. Air flow is king here, what you take in you must exhaust. Thermostaticly controllled fans help while idling. My fans havn't come on while going down the highway yet (I have a fan indicator light).

Craig replies: I wish I had done a rear radiator. I have one of the two cooling modules from a 2001 911 and if I had purchased another they would have slipped nicely into the rear corners or I could have done what you're doing.

I see your engine picture and I think I understand where you are going with the belt - under the water pump pulley and up over the idler wheel?

I just noticed that your engine has an HEI distributor. I got one from a Buick 350 and oddly, it runs into the corner of the cylinder head. Do you know where yours came from?

At this time there is a AA51 on eBay so there is a few was to do this.

I can go under, the A/C is not in place as showen. The motor mount will let me know if there will be A/c then I will try the AA51 first under for the water flow and the is one other reversed water pump to fit the 215 is from the jeep.

I had no idea there was a reversed water pump available. When I checked into reverse water pumps in about '09 I kept hearing "No" as I asked around. Good deal then.
