Yeah, I've see this work by Michael Smith before,
I also grew up during those days and have very fond memories, too.
Life just ain't the same, except when I'm driving in my Corvair and seeking out "the good ol days.
It's fun to find real life places that have been kept or brought back to high nostalgic standards.

Fantastic Shell station in Issaquah, WA. - a very nostalgic destination itself.

Terrific Oldsmobile sign art in Auburn WA

A Tree-house I'd move in to!! - also in Auburn WA

Teapot GAS is in Eastern Washington - on the Nat'l. Register.

This WWII encampment is recreated every year at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI

Beautifully restored tour bus is part of the nostalgia at Yellowstone.

Sure brings back memories to me. My 49 Mercury convertible would have fit right in with that scene. It looks much like main street in my old hometown of Senath Missouri. Memories, memories.

Yes, Matt - If you scroll down to the bottom of the page Steven posted, you'll see the model-maker with his handi-work.

Great stuff, he just needs to add some Corvairs to his collection!

Neon was on it's way out when I was a kid but I still remember alot of it and those "Googie Signs" were awesome. As a child, I remember asking my parents to drive by the places in town that had all the neon and the "Atomic Age" and "Googie" architecture. It was magical. Nothing really like that nowadays and the remnants of the past are fading more and more every year.
