Re: New Build: Project "Corsa GTP Convertible" (L67, F40, etc.)

Ryan,

Keep up the great work and thanks again for sharing it.

Questions:

1. Have you found someone to crack the ECM? IF SO - Who?

2. What size are those rotors?

3. Do you think 16" rims would fit over the Corvette front disc brakes?
(It looks close with the 17" but it is hard to be sure from here)

Thanks,
Tony

Tony, I have a shop local to me that specializes in 3800 performance, (ZZP)so they will tune the motor. The rotors are 13” and I’m pretty sure they won’t fit behind a 16” wheel. C5s come stock with 17” wheels up front.

Ryan, Thank you.

It looked as if it was already a tight fit. I just wanted to be sure.
Maybe if 12" or 11" rotors could be used, if one has to and make the bracket not as long.

I prefer 16" rims for my build to leave a little more (meat on the bone) or rubber between rim and the road. Grin & LOL
I also would prefer Corvette front calipers too.

I've always enjoyed this build.
Keep up the great work and thanks again for sharing it.

I keep plugging away little by little. Over the past couple weeks I painted the trailing arms. Then I removed the power train, and fabricated the upper coilover shock mounts. These wrap around the frame with 1/4” steel. They look a little crude for my liking but I think will function well.

Lots of little things have been happening. Brake lines fabricated. Fuel lines fabricated. Coolant tubes fabricated. Engine wiring harness sorted and dieted. Tested and wrapped. Should be able to start putting it back together and be ready for a road test soon!

Engine is installed, perhaps for the final time for a while. I did not like how I made the exhaust a year ago, as I just quick put it together, so this weekend I redid it how I wanted it. Now the exhaust exits the car in the center. I have a few more little things to wrap up and I should be able to start the engine.

I have been working on this thing a lot lately, just about 100 little things here and there. The car starts and runs a little rough but runs. I have not had a chance to get the computer programmed properly. Lots of wiring, that is pretty much done. Some final details like the motor rotation brackets I had been putting off are finally done. I was able to drive it up and down the driveway, but that has been about it for now with my busy busy schedule smileys with beer

Monday night I washed 9 years of fabrication dust and grime off the car eye popping smiley and tomorrow I will load it on the trailer and we head for the mini convention in Springfield on Friday morning!
