() Date: January 22, 2016 05:25AM Also judging by how dry my hands are after using hand cleaner, I would think this would be a vinyl cleaner and a moisturizing step would be in order? I don't know, just asking. Jim Brandberg Isanti, MN CorvairRepair.com Re: How to clean/soften 50 year old Vinyl seats Posted by:

() Date: December 21, 2016 08:39AM For white convertible tops use either Easy off Oven cleaner or Bleche White white wall cleaner. Easy off will get it brighter. Use either with a bristle brush. These cleaners are known as "Caustic Alkalis" Use a paper mask and dishwashing gloves when using as the vapors will take your breath away and burn your skin. They also use these to clean locomotives and white bicycle tires. Once the dirt is loosened, rinse off with a garden hose. Re: How to clean/soften 50 year old Vinyl seats Posted by:

() Date: October 24, 2017 01:47PM I have a '68 firebird convertible with 40 year old vinyl seats. They are quite hard and I am scared they will crack. Is there any type of dressing or similar that will restore the vinyl to make it softer and hopefully not crack?? Thanx. Emilia Re: How to clean/soften 50 year old Vinyl seats Posted by:

() Date: October 24, 2017 03:53PM We had a post not long ago with a nice dirty white interior. The person used water and Magic Eraser sponges, that was it. This one was done by Greg Renfro, Magic Eraser and water then some Lexol to soften the vinyl. () Date: October 24, 2017 06:22PM GOOP is petroleum based, it will literally melt into an oil if you leave it exposed to the air. GO-JO is a detergent. Will any of the cleaning methods mentioned hear remove the dark areas on red, blue or green seats sometimes referred to as "sun burn" ? Dan Brizendine, '64 8door Greenbrier 140 PG. () Date: October 24, 2017 08:06PM I haven't tried this in many years, but I used to use saddle soap to clean and soften vinyl upholstery. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
