Simple services in a Modern Day Service Center..
Posted by: eddieb ()

Today I took my wife's 2014 Jeep Patriot in for a routine oil, filter and tire rotation. We have a 75,000 mile extended warranty on it.A young girl no more then 17 came out to write up the service order. I mentioned a small nail in one of the tires that had not caused any air loss and her words were," do you want us to take the nail out", DUH no leave it in there and maybe we'll have a flat on a dark lonely road??????????? Then she says the scan shows a weak battery and it will have to be replaced (it's exactly 2 years old). When I got the car back she made sure to tell me I had some corrosion on one of the battery terminals and that might be causing a weak battery scan reading. However they did not bother to clean the corrosion off!!!1 I cleaned it myself when I got home.
In short gimme my simple Corvair. EddieB Dade City,Fl

I use Walmart for oil /filter / lube on my newer cars.. I'm happy

BUT Both times I took my "new to me" '86 and '90 Isuzu Troopers in...

Came back with reports of one or two Zerk fittings that wouldn't take grease...

When home I got under them with my Propane Torch to break the check ball loose.

On BOTH,even though all fittings showed fresh grease.. 5 or 6 were frozen!

Boots were not swollen... easily remedied with torch...

Admittedly they use a Pneumatic gun... I use a Hand unit..and you can "FEEL" as grease passes...

So now I just do it myself.... and yes,, the '67 Monza had several frozen....few LUBE anymore..

I think this is the proper thread for celebrating this:

Today I noticed a bushing on my rear shock had gone out. The whole thing was poking through the engine compartment. So I stopped in to a little garage that I've driven past a dozen times and never gone into. I showed him what was up and asked if he could work on it as well as some brake stuff that another garage and rejected because my car was too old.

The guy in his 20s who runs the place had never seen a Corvair in his life, but he was eager to work on it and had it up on his lift in minutes. And he in fact noticed a couple of other things wrong that I wasn't aware of and got them fixed before I asked him to.

I found my new mechanic. That's the kind of guy I want working on my car. Someone who's not afraid of it.

The dealerships should stock the EOS,the engine oil supplement,to replace the ZDDP.
I went to a Chevrolet dealership in Knkxville a fee years back and asmed if we coukd park our club cars their for a meeting and display. Appaerently, GM sent out a letter to all the dealershios saying that there ar3 some cars they maufactured and want nothing further to do with them. Corvair was on the list. The dealership manager said despite the letter, he wouldnt mind hosting us, but we never followed thru with it.

What? I'm just trying to understand what you're saying.

In short, Chevrolet does not want to be associated with the Corvair name or have anything to do with them. That was basically what the letter GM sent to its dealerships stated. For the record, i have not seen this letter! And i hate typing from my phone!!

Not worrying about getting The 2015 GMC fixed any more. They still haven't figured it out the left bank fuel trim imbalance issue yet. GM headquarters instructed them to change #7 injector (again).

Here is my new ride. A 2018 Chevy Silverado Centennial 100 Special Edition LTZ Z71 4 wheel drive. Here is a GM sales promotion photo. Had 12 miles when I picked it up. Franklin Chevrolet now owns the troublesome GMC Sierra SLT.

Several of us took our Corvairs to the Chevy Dealership today!
We were received with open arms!
They even gave us a free lunch.
