Except for the repro FC door check straps that are so poorly made they are unusable, I have not had any problems with parts from Scott. But his prices are usually out of touch with reality.
Everyone else who sells Corvair parts on Ebay probably loves him, as his inflated prices make thier parts look inexpensive.

I didn't know that. What makes them incompatible with other years?

The output shaft to drive the pinion shaft is not the same as the other years of production. If you look at the picture you can see that the shaft is stubby.
The pinion shaft is made to match it and drives near the rear side. They have (I think) six wide splines, not the many smaller ones of all the rest.
You can use a 61-63 main shaft, but that involves a R&R rebuild. I'm just talking about how it is in the ad and how most of them you find are.

Agree with Vairismo, this trans will only fit a 1960 differential as the shaft is a different length and splines are different than any other Corvair.
Caveman Pete should be buying this!

Wow..."racing transmission" huh? In that case, we have dozens of high performance Corvair gearboxes in stock. Even rebuilt units. Rebuilds must be worth even more right? Ours even have powdercoated covers and chrome shift shaft and fasteners so they go even faster! The 1960 aluminum gearbox weighs 30 lbs. Pretty light.

Hmmm... I thought it 1960 and 61 where 3 speeds used the large slpine shaft and only the 60-61's were aluminum where the 62-64 were the fine spline and were cast iron.

Also the 60-61 3 speed diffs use the same side spider gears on both sides and require the "long" shaft yokes while all the other used a short and long.
