I'm just curious how many of you have V-dubs as well as Corvairs?
I do... I love em'... this is what I'm working on.

Does partly VW count? How about a dune buggy using VW parts and Corvair engine?
How about a baja bug using Corvair engine? If you agree 'yes' then I will say 'yes' too.

Your THING looks good. I finished (about a year ago) a 1776cc w/turbo for a fellow in Idaho Springs west of Denver that has a white THING.

Now NO JOKES about white things from you guys with odd tastes in humor!!!!!!!

On another serious note: Kirk did you see the shortened TYPE 181 in the Hot VW magazine? Hopefully they will do a feature on it.

best wishes, Steve

I used to have a VW but had to sell a few years ago.

The white 84 Jetta GLI on the left was mine. I loved that car.

The 91 2L 16v GLI replaced the 84.

Sure... all VW's count... I wanna' see them all.
I've been giving the Rabbit pick-up truck a second look. They're growing on me.

Too weird about asking about the shortened Thing... I haven’t seen it... but my buddy and I just created a Photoshop Thing coupe on Friday!
We thought we were being SO clever...there's nothing new under the sun is there.

My last one was a dual cab VW pickup. I need to scan that one. Also had a VW bus once.
VW's are just too common in Bolivia to be interesting. I see 3 or 4 a day whether I'm in Tarija or Santa Cruz.... sometimes dozens

VW's are what got me into Corvairs (sorta). I have a custom '63 bug project (ultra long term project ). I wanted a VW bus and actualy bought a sorry excuse for what was a rare camper ( no rear susp, no interior, and lotso rust) and was overwhelmed by the work and $ that would be involved in even just getting it driving. I also had a project '26 Hupmobile rat rod roadster pickup that was about 75 80% done being fabbed up. So also being sick of projects and no cash to finish any of my projects and burnt out on projects and not having a driveable fun car I put the Hup up for sale/trade. Tried to trade for many VWs and realy wanted to get a driving bus but if you know bus guys they don't tend to stray from busses. Was also keeping my possibilitys open and happened across the corvan on craigslist worked a trade for the hup. I'm glad I'm a VW guy as otherwise I'm sure I'd feel lost figuring the van out. But glad I did get into Vairs. I'm having wireless router probs so I'm not on my puter right now, posting from my blackberry, but will post a pic of my bug once I get back online. Oh I also sold that bus for $400, and ill tell you its not fun unloading or loading a VW bus without a rear suspension.

I have owned VW diesels since 1980 when we bought a new Rabbit. It was great little car. Right now we have a 2000 Jetta diesel bought new and a 1974 Thing. Had the 84 diesel pickup for a couple of years. Would love to find another one.

Used to own 67 VW Beetle, lowered, chrome rims, 1600 with mild cam, 010 dist, K&N, headers and a wink mirror. Also had a 74 Dasher wagon (cool car!) with weber carb, and a 77 Audi Fox wagon (slightly less cool).

Lost interest in VW's after I got my first Corvair. The Corvair (any year) is definitely a step up from an air-cooled VeeDub, generally speaking, tho I still appreciate the beasts. I'd like to have one of the early Scirrocos.
