It turns out the tach lights didn't work because they were too long. The lamps were 1895's, which when fully inserted, pushed the grounding tabs a few thousands away from the ground contacts in the sockets, when the socket was fully inserted in the mounting hole. I'm sure the 1816's my manual calls for won't fit.

Does anyone know what the correct lamps are for the Corsa instrument panel are? They have to be short enough to fit in the tach, which has those plastic bubbles to help seal the unit, I assume.

My owners manual calls out 1816s, as noted above. I suspect that's for the Monza. I couldn't find any reference to the Corsa dash. But, I know the 1816s won't fit. Perhaps the '66 supplement calls out the correct lamps, but I don't have that one. yet.

Here's a bit more info on the tach light issue. Apparently, I'm the first one to ever run into this issue.

The first pic is attempting to show the depth of the hole to the plastic bubble inside the tach case. The second shows the length of the bulb from the socket, that is inserted into the hole. As you can see, the bulb contacts the bubble, and pushes the bulb back into the socket, which causes the bulb ground tabs to lose contact with the socket, so that when the socket is fully seated, the bulb goes out.
Has anyone else had to deal with this? what was your solution?

P.S., sorry about the stool logo!

I have those, and still a bit too long. I'll post how I modified them soon.

OK, the LEDs Matt recommended were still too long, so I ground down the lens. Now, that did dull the surface, so what to do? I grabbed my Mother's NuLens headlight lens renew, and polished the surface. Here's a picture:

The left lamp represents the original lamp, and the Right is the orignal (too long), LED. The middle is the modified LED.

Still at this point I feel like there is something unique about my panel. Can someone measure the depth of the hole in the tach to the plastic bubble? Mine must be unique.

I got mine off, but I never did figure out the ODO. Can't tell if is busted or disconnected. Nothing moves.

Which is why I use an app now to record my mileage.

You probably already know, but you have to push up, and then turn. the knob will move up quite a bit.

I found Some LEDs that work well, provide a bright light, and a blue glow.

What do you think?

Looks great.
Have you posted the bulb numbers or where to find them exactly?
Which bulbs and maybe a link?
