Hmmm, no can't say it does. Frankly, I hadn't watched it that closely. Yesterday, started it at 6am and got the white smoke for a minute. Drove 8 minutes, shut down, started an hour later and got the white smoke again.

Other than that I can't say it has smoked, but I do still get some unburnt fuel smell. It is not the smell from the fuel pump leak, because that just started.

Hope I didn't start a wild goose chase. I'll track this down this weekend.

It could also be a little bit of oil getting into the combustion chamber. the cylinders are laying on their side, so gravity will not pull any excess oil that got splashed into the cylinder as the engine stopped. that oil can them seep into the combustion chamber as the engine sits. That can give you smoke on start up.

Wouldn't oil smoke be blue? Compression is in the 130s, so I'm thinking rings are good.

Not sure if it's related to yours, but...

When I first got my '65 110/PG there was a cloud of white/blue smoke when started after sitting overnight. I only saw this the first few days as that's when I began much needed maintenance.

I soon realized that the oil level was too full by about 1 quart from the PO. I noticed it was high on the dipstick when I first looked, but knew I would change it out soon.

After the oil and filter change with the right oil and level the cloud disappeared never to return.

Is it possible your crankcase fluid level is too high?

Just a thought...

John

Thanks John, but I'm right on the full mark.

I had that happen to me before and it sure was fuel IMO. You could smell it coming out of the exhaust, and it was almost wet coming out. Was also cold not hot coming out of the exhaust...is yours hot or cold?

It could be one of these causes:
- Broken Fuel Pumping Injection
- Leaking Coolant
- Problems From Other Parts ( cylinder head, head gasket, fuel filter...)

Considering that the problem was almost 10 years ago, he has probably fixed it, or gotten rid of it by now.
