I know we generally frown upon profanity on this message board, but I think this car warrants it.

I like to think of it as 66 Vette, but yes. I might have to move them in closer together from where they are in the picsconfused smiley

I got some Corvette tail lights from ebay, the bezels will not work, so I would have to make a set out of stainless steel. The rest of the parts I can use.

Not much work on my Corsa AGAIN this weekendeye rolling smileysad smiley, a I still had to put another 10 hours of work on the Triumph I am painting, along with other commitments(presently house hunting... if I bag one, I'll let you knoweye rolling smiley)

But I did get the corners of the grille opening filled in & (only) marked where the final cuts will be.

I also welded in a little peak under the centre. After I take the grille out, I will staighten it all, then weld in a 1" wide lip which will surround the exposed grille.

I bent the ends of the top tube of the grille, a short tube that fits in the recesss for the licence plate, figured it will look better than disappearing behind the bumper

I also worked on one signal light pod tonight, so I'll have more pics tomorrow. This is an early stage pic, I like the Kevlar gloves thumbs up -

Found the camera this morning...

Here is the pressure pot spray gun I bought for $165grinning smiley

Here's a piece of my car I didn't want anymore, lol

Here is what replaced it, not sure if I like the look of it. I think it needs compound curves, it might look better with the light in place...

Here it is with the grille opening lip tacked on

The backside

You are doing a sick job so far but I don't know if its just me or not but the grille in this pic doesnt look centered, atleast in reference to those bumper holes left there. It could be the pic itself but I just figured I would put that out there just in case

Keep up the great workthumbs up

I love the grill and the way the proportions are looking..though my unsolicited opinion is that the side marker pods end up looking 'tacked on', and the function might be better served by some markers hidden behind the grill, maybe a small row of LEDs.

It's great to see someone with such metalwork skills customizing a Corvair. Keep it up and keep posting the updates!

BJ, I think this is the pic you are talking about-

I believe that would be just the angle of the pic, the reflections off of the tubes and also the bracket is offset. The tubes were just floating there, I could slide them a couple inches each way, nothing was tacked.
Guaranteed it will all be centred when done smileys with beer

I got the tube grille all welded up tonight, as well as most of the grille surround and one park light pod all welded in(sorry, no pics of that). I was welding until 12:45 am tonight, so here is the grille drinking smiley-

Here is the short tube that fills the licence plate void

I really like the mid-year Vette look. You're doing a nice bunch of sheetmetal revision.
