Al-thanks for the pics. I showed the boss and he is now deep in thought. Too many good ideas, and there are a few ideas of his own he wants to play with too.

Jim, not trying to high-jack Al's thread, he has some good fab work, but what kind of transmission do you hae bolted to your engine, and what about starting a new thread for yours with some pictures.

Take care of that governor you have laying in the engine compartment. They are unique to the 425 trans and were hard to find when I was looking for one.

Great project have enjoyed following your progress. Fantastic work on the hood scoops. Keep posting.

I had a request to show what kind of welding unit I'm using, so here it is. It is 220 Volt, but nothing fancy. I use C25 gas, as that is all I can get with a small bottle. Wher I live, you an only own the small bottle, all other bigger sizes must be leased/rented...
For 20 gauge,and .024" wire, I have it set on B3 - B3.5

So I mapped out my grille supports, marked them, got drilling

Here are the 3 brackets, the portion that sticks out past the grille will be cut off once I have everything properly mocked up -

Really nice Al, great concept and craftsmanship

Question on the sub frame connectors - all the V8 vairs I've seen just ran the engine mounts/supports over to the existing rails at the edge of the car, or used a sub-frame mount like the Crown setup. What made you need the SFCs?

Hi Joe. Actually, I'm not really convinced that I do NEED them, but all the local scrutineers were, lol.
If nothing else, it is not detrimental, should provide some amount of rigidity(especially when the front end gets light(power on)),gives me a really stong base for the rollbar, and will be a bit of ballasteye popping smileysmoking smiley

Al, the McLaughlin was a seven year project that I started in 1977. It was a typical basket case. the 55 chevy is a two dr post that we got in 1982. It still has the original 265 eng. with pg. I rebuilt the power train and repainted it. the interior is still original.

I have been busy doing a restoration on the gastank & 2 fibreglass sidecovers from a 72 Triumph Trident for the last couple days, so I haven't gotten much done, but I did have to push it out when I was (epoxy) primering(3 good coats) M/C parts today. I did get to play a bit with the new(to the car) parking lights.eye popping smiley Look familiar ?? Anxiously waiting for the matching tail lights...smoking smiley
