The last few days I've been scouring ebay for ideas as to a grille, when I came upon a custom chrome plated 1/2" tube grille for a 63-67 'Vette. I was going to bid on it, but after getting some measurements from the guy, I realized it would take some extensive modifying to use in my 'Vair...eye rolling smiley...
Then I remembered that I have a few lengths of 1/2"x .035" Stainless tubing, some sheet stock, and a 1/2" bender in the garage...eye popping smiley
So today I fabbed up a few custom grille tubes for my car, and then spent close to an hour each polishing them.hot smileywinking smileysmoking smiley

Yes the excess cutting will be filled in, and park lights from a 66 'Vette will be getting mounted in the corners. I will weld up the pinchweld seams, too.

I started working on the area below the windshield today. I had to make a couple of thin pie slices to make up the difference. It didn't turn out real good, but I didn't expect it to...eye popping smiley

A pic of the tag, can anyone tell me what number they started production with...???

I played around with the hood today, and built one of the air duct filler panels. I will cut out between the holes after they are fully welded in.
I started with a piece of 20 ga. 10x58, and used the Harley muffler & Kitty Hair can for the bends...eye popping smileysmoking smiley

I used 2 widths of 3/4" masking tape to get 1 1/2" from the edges

And this is now ready to install, but I have to build the other one first eye rolling smileysmoking smiley

You'd call me a purist if you met me, but I'm totally awed by the craftsmanship and creativity, coupled with excellent execution on this car... or as Matt sez - "You're kickin' ass!!!". Great work!

That set of photos goes in my LM future project file. Really sharp. Any chance you are planning a set of stripes coming up out of those depressions, over the roof and down the rear lid?

I have had a request for me to show pics of the drivetrain mounts, so...
The front mount I am considering rebuilding it to resemble the rear mount, but here it is, using a 5 ton truck mount & insulators(which they do not make urethane replacements for, last time I checked)

End view of front crossmember

Bottom mount

This piece I will rebuild out of thicker material...

All these mounts were built when I had much more limited welding skills, so alot of the welds will be ground & redone...eye rolling smiley

Shift brackets

Rear mount is oversized at present, original plans were to cut it out for the 180 degree custom made headers to go through eye popping smiley

What does it take to connect the BBC to the Olds trans? It looks like there's a plate in between the two but then the bolts all seem to be aligned between the engine and trans. Could you fill me in? Thanks!
