B-Vair, f'glassing is not my trade, but it is my friend Russ', it is his shop. I have learned vastly from him !thumbs up I'm not really sure which brandname resin & MEKP I use, possibly USC, that is the brand of Short Strand Filler I use. It comes from the same place, but I'll look next time I'm there. No Trade Secrets lost here- 1 layer of 1 1/2 oz mat. Usually about 1% MEKP at room temp is a good baseline.
If it is taking too long to kick off, a heat gun works wonders(used VERY carefully)... We had to heat the (cold)steel mould for it to kick
Any other 'glassing ????, just ask

tkalp, I have to ask... WTH is a piker ??confused smiley

Al,

A Piker is a slacker . . . I am retired and go out to the shop almost everyday and don't get anywhere near as much done as you do. Great work I am enjoying the thread and your progress. Keep us posted and inspired.

Here is the brand of resin we/I use. Probably mixed locally-

The box of rollers-

I built these little tabs to mount the Heater Duct to the Console Frame-

I'll use Aluminum Rivets on the Fibreglass-

This is my Third such decal they have given me, just for passing quality tests, it stands for Canadian Welders Bureau-

The start of my modified Defroster duct. I probably should have modified the "Y" duct instead. I still can, just need another connector piece-

Welding it up, with a Soldering Iron-

Me with the Specs on-

Here's our Hillbilly Exhaust fan, that plastic smoke is NASTY!!!-

I sanded it a bit with 36 grit-

Looking good! I have a Carbon fiber hood and I want to bond it to a metal support cut from an old hood. Do you have any suggestions or warnings of things not to do? The metal is bare now and the deck lid has gel coat. I have never glassed before.

I also did some work on the lower engine cover, built a frame-

A beadroll design I considered, if any, I would go with just one diamond in the middle. But that was before I mounted this-

Hi A-I, if it is gelcoated, that must be ground off at all attachment points.Grind the metal at the attachment points with a 24 grit disc. It would be a good idea to talk to a plastics/composites supply store to find out exactly what kind of resin/catalyst they use for C-F, as I have no actual Carbon Fibre experience. Use that resin, and there should be no problems. 2 or 3 layers of 1 1/2 oz mat would be plenty.

Another option would be to use FUSOR brand epoxies to bond it together. Available at bodyshop suppliers.

Al,

Just read your thread through from start to finish this morning, though I'd checked in here and there previously. Man, you are doing some incredible work! This will truly be an awesome and one of a kind ride when completed!!!

Your welding, fabrication and fiberglass-working skills are superb. You also have some very creative and bold styling ideas. I, like one or two others who've commented, sort of had my doubts (in terms of what appeals to me, specifically) at first, but have grown to appreciate and admire what you're doing. It is a very cool piece of art/machinery.

Keep up the great work and, like everyone else, I very appreciate the all the detailed pictures!

Cheers!

Here is my Canadian Owners Manual, and a Protecto Plate from a 66 Monza I used to own(I still know where it is).
I'm sure they look a little different from the US versions-
