() Date: January 24, 2010 11:13PM Well, it is time I started posting pics of my 66 Corsa. I'll post as many pics as my time allows. Started back on it about 2 months ago, mostly just working on it on weekends. Rust repair has been the name of the game since, can't wait to get onto some fun stuff... The chopped roof, I took 3" out of the C pillars, cut above & below the windshield framework, as well as MANY other places, to get everything tweeked/fudged into place. The C pillars also had to bend in more to meet up with the lowered roof. The windshield angle was 45* stock, it is now 60*, and will fit the stock, unaltered windshield. The bottom, centre of the W/S is now 3/4" higher than stock. Dash support braces had to be cut & repositioned. I also had to cut out the tops of the fenders & the corners of the dash, to gain access for rust repair & cowl welding... Any questions, please ask! () Date: January 24, 2010 11:30PM Wow, that's some nice work. I did a chop top VW years ago. I think I chopped like 6" out of it. Slant chop with a full size rear window & factory sunroof. It was a lot of work, but not as much as your's. That thing is going to be awesome. Thanks for sharing the pics. () Date: January 25, 2010 08:30AM Looks like a great project. How about rolling it out and getting a nice side profile shot? You were able to retain the stock windshield, the rear window will have to be custom . . . cut down lexan? What are your plans for the side windows? Will you eliminate the vent windows? Looks like you are welding up the gas fill door . . . where are you moving the fill to? tkalp wichita, ks Re: ANGLE CHOPPED 66 CORSA BBC TORO RESTO Posted by:

() Date: January 25, 2010 10:01AM Yes, I'm probably going to use PC or acrylic for the rear, the sides - I've been hoping to use 68/69 Camaro door glass(no vent window), and possibly sand them down on a big belt sander... Anyone done/tried this before ?? No, but as I'm sure you already know, tempered glass cannot be re-cut. Be sure to wear heavy gloves and a mask when you try it. I'd try a little bit first. Let us know if it works. BTW, you might find a glass shop that will not charge an arm and a leg to make custom glass from your templates. If you can find out who the source for tempered glass is in your area, you may be able to order direct from them and save versus going through a glass shop and save the middleman cost. <table align='center' width='0'> <tr> <td><img src='[www.automation-scs.com]; alt='1962 Corvair 900 sedan' width='190' /></td> <td><img src='[corvaircenter.com]; alt='1967 Corvair Monza 140/4-speed' width='190' /></td> <td><img src='[corvaircenter.com]; alt='1968 Corvair 500 coupe' width='190' /></td> <td><img src='[www.automation-scs.com]; alt='1983 Mexican Mustang 5.0' width='190' /></td> <td><a href='[www.automation-scs.com&]; target='_blank'> ![]() </tr> <tr> <td align='center'><font size='1'>1962 900 sedan needs a home</font></td> <td align='center'><font size='1'>1967 Monza 140/4-spd</font></td> <td align='center'><font size='1'>1968 500 coupe (now my son's)</font></td> <td align='center'><font size='1'>1983 Mexican Mustang 5.0</font></td> </tr> </table> Re: ANGLE CHOPPED 66 CORSA BBC TORO RESTO Posted by:

() Date: January 25, 2010 11:22AM Congratualtions on the good work. I don't like to see a solid car cut up, but it's really nice to see one with corrosion saved from the crusher and turned into something creative and interesting. A fellow in our club saved a rusty convertible to make it a mid V8 car with lots of braces added. Turned out really well. Re: ANGLE CHOPPED 66 CORSA BBC TORO RESTO Posted by:

() Date: January 25, 2010 11:39AM Thanks for that tip, Luke. Definitely will have to explore all options, and I did hear there is someone locally who makes custom tempered glass. The stock rear window might be able to be cut down too. The tail light area that is marked out in the last pic is a customizing thought- any guesses as to what I'm contemplating...??? The hood pic is where I will be cutting for radiator air exits. The flaps will be curved down & sheeted in around 3 sides. () Date: January 25, 2010 12:03PM Awesome, that roof angle really accentuates the body lines - updates the look and shows how timeless the LM lines are. Note to self: Sure, SSpeed66 has lots of experience and ability. But, if he can do this you can surely patch your fender tops and wheel openings. () Date: January 31, 2010 09:40PM I only got a few hours labour in on the car this weekend, but I did get one side cut for the 2"x2" subframe connector, I'll order the steel tomorrow, as well as the tubing/plate for the rollbar, which all has to be finished before the new floorpans go in. I left a lip along the rear floor to bend up & meet the 2x2. I will also be welding in plates under the floor to accept the rollbar. It will be bolt in. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Al Macaulay - Okanagan Valley, BC Western Canada Corsa Link to my Corsa build- [corvaircenter.com] Link to my Cobra boat Project- [www.sidewinder-boats.com] 66 Corsa 140 HT - 402BBC/Turbo 425, 66 CDN Corsa 'Vert 140, 79 Cobra 16SS/Merc 1500, 69 Triumph Trident Chopper, 67 BSA Lightning Custom Cobra Custom Metal Design/ God Bless Canada ![]() Re: ANGLE CHOPPED 66 CORSA BBC TORO RESTO Posted by:
