My wife saw the pics and said oh thats nice and whent about her buisness....Truthfully she could care less, hell she points out some some hot chicks to me every now and then lol!truthfully if your woman is confident in herself she wont see others as a threat. Its the new milenium far as I knew most women are over the pettyness of pinup pics anyway. And as for dudes posed by cars ect.... hell go for it the women here that are adult enough im sure can handle it.And lastly I rememer the bikini cover on corsa that caused a fiasco a few years back.Kinda makes me think gee the more things change the more they stay the same.

exactly ccvair. my wife said the same thing. in fact, I have opinions from three completely different women from three completely different walks of life who say "no big deal" I think a couple of people are defending what does not need to be defended. It's at least as harmless as basic cable. Do you turn that off too?

"So where do they put the engines in these things?"

Ravvy, it's not the pictures themselves that are bad. If I was at "bikinigirlsnguns.com" or "hotchickshotcars.com", I'd be all smiles. Even if I was here and I was reading a thread titled "pics of hot chicks and cars", I'd be cool. But this is the Corvair Center in a thread with a title of "women work on cars too" and it was started with some very nice pictures of a current Corvair person WORKING on her car years ago. And then it degenerated into the 8th grade somehow.

And it's not that a women is threatened by how hot the girl in the pics is compared to her, it's what the posting of that picture in a car forum says about how the poster thinks of women. And when so many jump on the band wagon and defend it, it makes it seem like the majority feel that way. It tells women you think of them as sex objects. A lot of women who work on cars would like to be admired for their car knowledge and skills, not for their physical attributes.

It's the environment you're creating and seem to want. It's boys only. Well, girls can play too but they need to know their place. You may continue to deny it but I've seen it with my own eyes. I think it's unfortunate for our hobby that so many of you "boys" feel this way. I find that a lot women really tend to like Corvairs but in spite of your anecdotal evidence, most women don't like hanging around a bunch of adolescent boys drooling over pictures of scantily clad women.

It's like most controversial threads here though, the controversy could be avoided through proper thread etiquette. Post OT things in a thread that is appropriately labeled. If you see a thread with "OT political nonsense" or "OT inappropriate pics", then you can participate or avoid at your choice. As it is, you guys sneak your stuff into almost every thread you can, poisoning the whole thing in a way.

Maybe having categories of threads here would help. Personally, I doubt it. It would still require a level of discipline on people's parts that I don't think exists with the people here (or anywhere on the internet from what I've seen).

My perverted side loved the racy pictures. My favorite though was the one posted by UNSAFE on the first page. That old picture was awesome! What a beautiful woman! But, maybe in the day that picture WAS racy? Dunno, it was before my time.

Having said all this, I guess if I was looking at some awesome Vairs, and had tolerate a bunch of bare a$$ed men's picture mixed in with the vairs, I'd go over to CF, or VV. What would my wife or coworkers think of me looking at Corvairs with bare a$$ed men's pictures? Yikes! Sorry, call me a homophobe if you want!

So for the interest of all Corvair enthusiasts male and female, maybe we should keep it classy guys. I wouldn't want the gals going elsewhere. I kinda like them!

I agree with RAV_AIR. Regular cable TV doesn't always give appropiate warning when they wanna flash a little skin, Cialis commercials, all the way back to when they started with the tampon/Kotex thing on TV. My mom still doesn't like to see this or hear MF this MF that.(She's 86) Most people have just grown callous I guess. Most people can tell in a quick glance if something is offensive or not. I would say to those that are offended, turn off the TV, Skip thru the "sexism" pics. You wouldn't believe what some women/girls talk about men when WE'RE not around!! It would curl your toes! Most 21st century women can look at the posters that were posted, and just shrug it off...

Vairnana,
I think the reason why much men don't post pics of us men working on them is cause we don't look that great! trust me you don't wanna see this thing in a speedo! lol, have fun and chill everyone!

Perhaps CORSA should look into selling a line of burkas with the Corsa logo embroidered on them....there just may be a market for some! hot smiley

I'd say the initial post was hijacked but what was done wasn't sexist, not in the least. No one has said anything derrogatory or demeaning regarding women, they just posted a few pictures of some beautiful women around cars. Whose to say that they didn't just get back from the salon after wrenching on the car? That's my odd, guy way of looking at them.

Believe me, there would be nothing deadlier than a beautiful, intelligent women that is also handy with a wrench. All my wife has to do is come out and help me on the car and my attention is all hers.

I read an article about the build of this 66 at Wyotech. It was at the Laramie, Wyoming campus. They had two women in their crew for building this. Couldn't find any pics of the project.

Wyotech is one of my clients - I've seen that car in person and it's very nice. The carbon fiber engine cover is exceptional! There are quite a few female students at Wyotech. The last time I was there the top student in the chassis-fab class was a woman. Very cool.

I'm glad that this forum inspires classy pin-up style shots to be posted rather than some of the hoochies posted on that fiero site. Just my .02

I would encourage a pin-up thread here... thumbs up
