The search would have to be by VIN since most Corvairs I've seen are titled simply as a "196x Chevrolet"

Between Debbie and I, we have twelve Corvairs. Four of which run and registered for the road. There must be a couple dozen engines and transaxles inside the shop alone, more in storage. And.... one big pile of cylinder heads.

Hi everybody,

I have asked the question to the Office responsible of the license here in Québec, Canada. For the model 1964 only 7 are still on the road. Unfortunately, this is almost impossible to know how many are undergoing restoration process and are not licensed.

I remember discussing this with Claypool, and the number he mentioned was on the order of about 100,000 still existed by about 1995. Clark's Corvair could likely weigh in as they are the biggest Corvair "jobber" in the world. The beast must be in good shape for them to continue with as many repros as they still do...

Wow this thread started on 2009 and it pops back to life. I will do my part, at the next meeting I will again poll the group and reply with current numbers.

I will say I am surprised Canada will look for a specific car now, I would have guessed their charges for computer 'search' time would be pretty expensive.

best wishes, Steve

Hello JO and all: There were a couple of threads in the past curious about the number of Corvairs still on the road. One of the threads had to do with finding owners who weren't club members so we could recruit them. Another had to do with just the question of how many were/are left. I started this thread in 2009 and it just popped back up again.

Our local club here in Denver tried to get names of owners so we could send them literature about RMC but Colorado State Motor Vehicle first said the computer time would be very expensive and then said they couldn't do it anyway due to privacy concerns. I understand some states are more casual with privacy issues including apparently places in Canada.

To answer your actual question I am keeping busy, no complaints. In 2017 I will have had the shop going for 50 years.

best wishes, Steve

Wow.
Well, mine is a '61 Corvair inner shell (including cowl, front suspension,
windshield) and no Corvair powertrain.
(Waterpumper V6)
I drive it pretty regularly.

I only have one, but I'd own a fleet if I had the money. I've heard that once you get two or more, they start reproducing.

There are 2 clubs in KY. CKCE in Lexington and Derby City in Louisville. We have 25-30 between us. I doubt there are any more than 40 in the whole state.

I think there are alot more in a given area than you might think.

They keep popping up around here in the remote Pacific Northwest.

I've been into Corvairs since I moved here in 1975 - with my Corvair.

I've been in the local club and know most everyone that is regularly associated with 'em.

But, I still see ones I don't know - some driving around on the streets of Seattle.
A nice black Greenbrier, a sweet LM Convertible and a coupe, too - a nice EM Sedan, all in the last year or so just happened to be in my line of vision at just the right time. I'd say there are many many more, given the extreme odds...

I was bragging at someone today that they're about 60,000 Corvairs still on the road.

Have there been any new developments in ways to verify this?
