Monza SS Clone smiling bouncing smiley

It's probably every boys dream to have a clone of either the Monza GT, SS, or Spyder SS. Well, a MCC member has taken on the project of cloning the Monza SS.

This was shown at our Joint (MCC hosts CCCC) pinic, which i couldn't attend because of a wedding... (should have ditched the wedding)

I don't have details on it yet, but have request more info. All i know if that it should be completed and ready for the 2010 Convention!

Excellent, any possibility of more photos . . . some from the construction process? What is the body? Fiberglass? Just one more reason to make the 2010 Convention. Thanks for sharing. Builder's name?

His name is Dick Reinders. He owns this Estate which also features his own landing strip! (shoulda ditched the wedding)

I'm still trying to get details on it, but it seems the usual people are not online. I would bet it is a one-off fiberglass body. I too am interested to know what is under and powering this.

If there are any updates, they will likely be posted here first: [www.capitalcitycorvairs.com]

I would sure hope it's a Corvair PT - would be a sin for it to be anything else... IMHO...

The rear deck not being louvered, like the original, leave little hope... sad smiley

I used to live just a few miles down the road from him. Dick is an interesting guy... self-made and often when he gets an idea in his head, he pursues it enthusiastically (like when he decided to track down his first new car...)

I can't wait to see it completed...

1st & 2nd shots - bottom near the rocker you can see the outline of the doors.

That will be one nice ride when he gets it done. Whew, what a lot of work.

Don't look for actual doors or even ridges for doors...

Just look for lines in the model where the doors would be and you will see in the 1st and 2nd pic, that they have "lined" in doors..or where the doors will be.

I can "see" where they plan to mold the doors.....

By the way, has anyone contacted GM HC to get the vairs out for the 2010 Convention?? They do it for free - or did before it became Government Motors...

I still have my contact there if ICE is interested. Might be a cool photo op to have this creation next to the original.
