Hello Rich and all: Since a number of the listed cars appear to be engine swaps will you consider my 912 P-car w/180 turbo and my 74 baja bug w/180 turbo and various 356/911/912/914 cars that have been converted either by myself or others around the country??

Regards, Steve

George Barris built neither the Beatnik Bandit nor the Road Agent. Ed "Big Daddy" Roth did that. The Beatnik Bandit was built in '59 and had a front mounted Oldsmobile engine. The Road Agent did however have a Corvair engine mounted in the rear (upside down!)

Memory must be failing, I got the two major Customizers of the 60's mixed up. Roth's creation was pretty wild for the times.

There was a short video that was made by Chevrolet I saw years ago of a modified Rampside with two engines, one in the usual place and one under the front seat. The truck was articulated between the cab and the bed and it steered by hydraulic rams similar to a big earth mover. The video showed it going over large obstacles, one wheel at a time, and pulling a Ford 4wd pickup out of a mud bog. The engines were synchronized, and they powered separate ends of the vehicle. Does anyone know what they called it? I want one...

It was called AGL-4, developed in part for the military. About 4 were built. None survive. It had only one engine, under the drivers seat. cab was hinged to flip forward. The "trailer" had a ramp on the rear like the side ramp on a stock rampside. Btw the prototype rampside had a lockable tool bin on the drivers side of the bin, similiar to a VW pick-up.

Maybe the upstart was mentioned, maybe it doesn't fit the outline of the original post but here it is anyway.
