() Date: April 08, 2008 03:33PM While I knew YS086 was going on the block at the Mecum Auction on May 15-19th, I just checked their site and found another one. No YS number is given, but they say it is the 28th of 100, so I'd assume it is YS028. Let the games begin..... Charlie www.yenkostinger.com Still #1 on Google search engine for Yenko Stinger! Author of "Don Yenko And The Yenko Stinger"- the only book written strictly devoted to the Yenko Stinger. SEE "DON YENKO AND THE YENKO STINGER" ON FACEBOOK!! () Date: April 08, 2008 03:55PM Somday you'll hopefully get a chance to look at several of these cars and check your "secret" ID lists.... Might be fun! Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: April 08, 2008 06:16PM It appears that Tom Clary is running at least 3 of his cars thru the Mecum Auction in May.One is a Camaro he has represented as " Don Yenko's " which I believe was built by Jerry Thompson and driven by Don a couple of times . () Date: April 08, 2008 06:40PM YS-028 is similar to 091 is some ways - not so in others. Much more authentic. Oddly enough, YS-028 went through Mike C. at Wholesale California, as did 091, 003 and 199. I think 097 might have as well... Mike YS-117 Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2008 01:02AM [cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com] Same as 091 in that it's a "rebody" and not the ACTUAL car that Yenko sold as stinger # 028. No mention of a Yenko tag either - fake or otherwise. I still don't see how a totally different car can be Yenko stinger if it didn't start out as one. ?????? If I tore up a 100 dollar bill - I couldn't take a one dollar bill and tape some pieces of the 100 on it and call it a real 100 dollar bill . The law would call it a counterfeit . Even if I taped on the serial numbers too From auction >>> This Corvair is 28 of 100 built, Yenko built about 140 but the first 100 are more desirable. This car is well documented with Protecto-plate, original invoice signed by Don Yenko, the Yenko work order and original title. Yenko items include sail panels, glas rear deck lid, etc. This car is a stage II, which means it has 4 single carbs and headers. This car has been re-bodied. This car is a nice driver and a great candidate to restore. He says "this corvair is 28 out of 100 built" . He says well documented with protecto plate.Original title and invoice. Only problem for me is that it's not the 28th Stinger built. The protecto plate is not for the car being sold and neither are the title and invoice. They are for a different car, YS 028 wherever it is ! He says the first 100 are more valuable too but this one wasn't one of the first 100 built. All IMHO and confused. () Date: April 09, 2008 01:29AM The seller says that the car has been re-bodied, the seller also says that it is a great candidate to restore, Restore to what??? YS-028?? or what ever the donor body was??? Just what would you restore this to???? And when you get done, all you would have is a clone I guess and not a restored original. To me this reboding all seems a bit fishy if not illeagal. Chris Rowlett, Tx NTCA - North Texas Corvair Association CORSA '64 Monza 'vert Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2008 03:52AM It has the original tag and many other original parts. 091 really set a new level in saving an identity - and yet still sold for more than the most original '66 Corsa ever will. This car has a lot more of the original fabric. Let's not rehash the re-body discussion again. Mike YS-117 Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2008 05:09AM Kevin: Regardless of what else you tape to it, if you have greater than 50% of the hundred dollar bill (even if you don't have any serial numbers!), you still have a hundred dollar bill. Unlike the cars (where the US is pretty much alone in not having laws covering them) there are very specific laws on currency. Bill Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2008 07:29AM BTW - this car also has a very important piece of documentation that 091 did not and assures that no one else will show up with the same car one day - the real TITLE with 028's VIN on it! Mike YS-117 Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2008 11:33PM My 64 vair has a 65 engine in it. Do I have a rebodied 65? just wondering. It's a step in the right direction, but SCCA still wouldn't let you race in D/P back in the day. Mike YS-117 Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: May 25, 2011 06:34AM Why bring up a thread from April 2008? Is there a new Yenko auction starting somewhere? Re: Yenko Stingers- Here We Go Again Posted by:

() Date: May 25, 2011 08:49AM Doh! Well if Rick would have put that link in his reply above then I wouldn't feel so dumb for missing the recent thread about the same car. ![]() [corvaircenter.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
