Corvair Center Frustrations and the need for TUNA!!! Posted by:

() Date: March 14, 2008 08:56PM The following has been excerpted from a previous thread from last October. I think that it may typify the feelings that many of us have: the wanting to learn and yet not have instruction; the wanting to work on our cars, but not having proper facilities available to us. You know, us Cleveland guys should get together and have a TUNA . How much interest is there ? Then we could help Butch out and put the engine in my car and...... Sometimes all we need is a 2nd set of eyes ( and a laptop !) Scott, I would dig having a get-together. I would really dig having a second set of eyes on this car to give me some opinions on the car as a whole let alone this fuel problem.... Re: Thinking of selling my Corvair Posted by: ScottS (76.190.241.---) Date: May 31, 2007 05:54PM Well, there is you, me, Flamingchariots, and who else ? If we figure out where we can do this ( need someone who owns a garage with service bays ) I volunteer to haul the non-running cars to the place so we can work on them. Scott, I know of another fella on the forum here whose name is Dave Repede....maybe he is interested? He seems awfully knowledgeable about the cars too. All in all, I wish I had that garage with the bays you speak of. I only have my regular garage attached to my house with a bike and other do dads in it....no lifts. With all the posts you guys have forwarded I may just keep this damn car after all. Take care and talk soon....... I feel your pain. Talking to everyone here is very helpful and feels like a neighborhood get together. But when you need eyes on/hands on help you realize that most of your corvair friends are scattered all over the country and your kinda on your own. I know my car would be a very reliable daily driver if I was closer to some of you folks. Posted by: ScottS (76.190.241.---) Date: June 1, 2007 08:37AM I may get a lift later this year , we could do it at my place. So things may come together slowly, but I'm kind of excited about this. Scott has his lift by now, and I have a building big enough to work in. Anyone else interested in TUNAs in NE Ohio? Kevin Medina, OH Re: Frustrations and the need for TUNA!!! Posted by:

() Date: March 15, 2008 12:18AM Kevin I tracked down Mike Emmerle who was involved wih Northcoast Vairs which at one time had 40 members , is a Corsa chapter, and was prety active in Cleveland- I was prety excited when I found them as they were based 15 minutes from me Unfortunately the group is disbanded and most of the Corvairs are gone. I have asked Tim at Corsa to look into re-activating the chapter. Vacationland Corvairs appears to have an officer that lives by me but the bulk of the membership and activities seem to be focused on Toledo. I will do what I can to reactivate the Cleveland chapter. I think Tunas would be a hoot, as well. I am still sorting out the Vacationland vs Northcoast thing. Mike is still very active with his Corvairs but is doing it solo right now. ![]() 1969 Monza Coupe 1966 Nader Invader ! 1966 Monza Coupe www.vaircooled.com I love Corvairs Ohio Re: Frustrations and the need for TUNA!!! "Imagine all the people Tunaing around the world"... Maybe that line was cut from the final version of the song. Seriously, our Tuna program has been very successful as a teaching event. There have been several guy that have gone from student to teacher. I know a thing or two about cars and Corvairs and I have even learned a thing or two at our Tunas. The biggest problem I've seen with others starting a Tuna program is club members that also have a repair business. I don't fault them, they need to eat too. Ned PS Sorry for the Lennon 'joke' I ment no harm to the song or the man, both are among my favorites. Re: Frustrations and the need for TUNA!!! Posted by:

() Date: March 16, 2008 09:38AM My lift is a long sordid tale of lies and deceit. Let's just say that after 9 months I am out $1800 and dn't have a lift. But I am working with the CC company to get the charges reversed and this should be taken care of in a month or so. Then I wil go buy the lift I should of, then , TUNA at my place ! BTW don't buy from Americas Pride in Seekonk, MA ![]() 1969 Monza Coupe 1966 Nader Invader ! 1966 Monza Coupe www.vaircooled.com I love Corvairs Ohio Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. | ||||||||||||||||||
