Carb to head gasket question, rotated carbs

I started a thread yesterday about an issue I am troubleshooting, I have the driver's side of my engine not running right. [corvaircenter.com]
I was reading this thread [corvaircenter.com] and it got me looking a bit closer, since my carbs are rotated 90 degrees. The gaskets are flat, the carb is seated square but I noticed the notches in the gasket do not line up with the port on the head. These two openings do match up the the base of the carb. Is this normal or should this part in the carb rotator have a provision for the gasket?
