About 3 years ago Amazon started a program to allow users to automatically donate to their favorite charity - 0.5% - yeah, not a lot, but better than "nuttin", right?

I set it up to donate the amount to the Corvair Preservation Foundation (CPF) which is an official 501c3 tax deductible charity.
I set a link to go to "smile.amazon.com" - So much for that!!

Amazon slipped in a "redirect" from the good old "smile.amazon.com" to the old "amazon.com" when they pulled the plug on their donation program.

Yeah, that's right - Amazon no longer donates a portion of your purchase to your selected charity.

The way of the world, as they say.

Fortunately I have other direct ways to support the CPF - such as an annual membership!

I'm sad to see it go - but its nothing that Amazon HAD to do.

Per npr.org, it ended in February, and had donated over 400 Million to US charities, with the average donation per charity being $230. There were over 1 million eligible organizations and 'our ability to have an impact was often spread too thin"
