() Date: May 21, 2023 06:57PM Interesting couple days - been having carburetor issues on the right side on my '68 coupe. Was not getting a proper "squirt" from the two discharge holes at the accelerator pump needle valve. When trying to push a .016" wire thru the holes, I found the upper one to be plugged?! A couple months ago I had soaked the upper & lower carb bodies in the Berryman Chem-Dip, rinsed them in kerosene and blown out everything with compressed air. Apparently, that was not enough to get the ?#&* out of that little hole. Wire kept bending while trying to push thru the hole so I thought about a drill . . a VERY SMALL drill! Eventually found circuit board drills on Amazon and had them delivered this morning. 3 of the same 10 piece drill sets for about $14 delivered overnight! I will have small drill bits forever!! Always fun (a challenge) working on my Corvairs?!! ???? Took a couple photos . . . . Attachments: Re: Micro Drilling a Carburetor . . . Posted by:

() Date: May 22, 2023 06:12AM I thought that's what torch tip brouchs were for. Nice set of bits though. "Run She May, Shine She Must" Been Aircooled Since 1973 Northwest Ohio 45840 Re: Micro Drilling a Carburetor . . . Posted by:

() Date: May 22, 2023 10:33PM Tiny torch tip cleaner use here too. Really shows you the angle of the squirt too. I bought some tiny tiny drill bits too over the years (a set of 61 -80 in addition to metric) but yours are pretty! And I have used them to open holes in circuit boards when the component leads (remember way back when parts had leads? ![]() ![]() Joel, I "assume" the 10 piece set: [www.google.com] Frank DuVal Fredericksburg, VA Re: Micro Drilling a Carburetor . . . () Date: May 23, 2023 10:16AM First, let me say that I have a lot of history with small drilling - I built architectural models for 22 years and during that time also worked with a company (group of automobile engineers) in Houston who were automobile crash test and litigation experts - on behalf of Ford & Toyota. Our company made courtroom exhibits - cutting down vehicles, building foam core full size vehicles for on the road accident scene recreations and other courtroom exhibits. Here is a description of the drill I purchased on Amazon: Shank Tungsten Carbide Micro Drill Bits Set, Tungsten Steel PCB Print Circuit Board Flute CNC Router Bits for Rough Stone Print Circuit Board Jewelry Engraving (30 Pcs, 0.1-1.0 mm) Link: [www.amazon.com] This set goes from .o1o to .040. There are 3 options available. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
