You know you need to build a car around a set of wheels and tires.

The front seat is so nice I think it's been recovered. The back seat looks original.

If so, it's a spectacular job what with the original weave in the cushion areas.
Hope you get it. '60 700 Coupes are dead cool.

I've come to my senses and I can't do it at this time, no time for a 2 day trip. I'm sure someone will do something with it. I should seek counseling on my penchant for wanting to save them all.

BTW, I finally got him to put a # on this car. His price is $1,500 but I think it could be purchased for less.

He also has a pretty decent 64 Monza Coupe 4-speed 110hp. White over red interior. Runs and drives fine. He would like to trade both cars for a decent running/driving EM convertible PG.

He would take $4,000 OBO for the pair.

I really like the '60 coupe but the timing is not right for me.

Enjoy the Corvair!

1500 is probably a fair price but 500 would be a much better deal. Joel, are you listening? Jim B., I know you like 60 700s. I'll bet this car is about equal distance for you guys.

It's a little SE of Kansas City. 8 1/2 hours each way for me.
I usually trailer for 1.5 times the mileage reimbursement rate currently .655 so getting close to $1 a mile these days. That seems to be about half what the big guys are charging.
In this situation it adds another $1000 to the $1500 price. I like it I don't like it $2500. Sort of a crap shoot with the engine and the rust is coming through.
I do love the 700 beltline trim and the interior. Someone should make the move. It's about 100 miles east of the geographical center of the lower 48.

It's located about 20 minutes East of Sedalia, MO. Technically Otterville, MO. He is right on a state highway.

Enjoy the Corvair!

9.5 hours one way for me. That is way outside of my range. It would have to be something really special for me to go that far. This one has too much rust for me. Maybe if the body was perfect and the price was $500 or less...

Now if it was 20 minutes east of Sedalia Colorado...
But I am still wanting to hear about that 60 4 speed transmission. Cast iron case or aluminum? Did I see a "black" shifter in a picture?

I've got a turbo engine with 140 heads that needs to go in something.
My mind went to a sleeper with a turbo exhaust through that opening.
Then my mind went to it would have to be oval.
Then my mind went to oval exhaust pipe flow, spurned on by header pictures in another thread. I bet it's covered in my old "Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems" book.
I just love single exhaust and a '60 or Lakewood has such a lovely place for it and this car has a good grille.
It wouldn't be so far for Eric to go get this car and I think he should.

ANYONE know how many 1960 Corvairs were built in Oakland?

I think this car is a VERY Late Oakland build. I think the "6C" on the trim tag indicates 3rd week of June. Any other info you can comment on from that tag would be much appreciated.

Enjoy the Corvair!
