I had seen a post about how someone had mounted an AC condenser behind the r/r wheel well housing on their Early Model, but can't find it in search. Help!

One nice condenser mod that I've seen was to mount it to the deck lid (engine cover) with longer hoses as needed, so when the lid is raised, so is the condenser. It would also probably help to install some gas "shocks" that would help raise the now heavier lid instead of the factory lid support,

The problem with mounting to the deck lid is that then it is very dependent on how well your engine compartment and deck lid are sealed just like the '66 up.

The other problem with that setup is that if the condenser is not sealed all the way around, the hot air pulled thru the fan can recirculate back into the condenser. When that happens, the heat transfer cant occur and you wont get cold air up front.

If air is pulled through by the fan, it is going to be blown out the bottom of the engine.

If you are talking about the Clark's kit.
That IS NOT for mounting on an EM engine cover.
It is meant for TRUNK MOUNTING.

C11781 (part linked by Tom) is for 1961 to 1964 engine lid mounting.

I'm with Joel, the OEM seal on the early engine lid does not seal like the 65 to 69 engine lid. Air can bypass the condenser mounted to the lid.

So let me get this straight. If I leave the Condensor in its stock location, it would seem to be important that the engine of gaskets seal well? Obviously, sealing around engine must be good to prevent backdraft effect.

No, in the stock early location there should be a gasket between the condenser housing and the top shroud. This makes sure air flows through the condenser.

Air flow very important!

FYI to 66/67 condenser locations, take the condenser loose from the firewall and clean the leaves from it.

Does anyone have a photo of the Clark’s kit installed? I’m thinking of going that route and pop an electric fan on the condenser to pull more air across it.

If the lid and shrouds aren't sealed the air will bypass the condenser. The only way around that is to have a powerful enough fan that it isn't counting on the engine fan to pull air across the condenser.

The condenser has an electric fan (setup I seen) that pulled air thru the engine lid and thru the condenser. Hence that the hot air is sucked back into the condenser if it is not sealed. Even if the engine is running, the hot air may still be recirculated thru the condenser.
