When you’re up shifting the cluster is Spinning the heck out of the next gear that the syncro is trying to slow down (load) same down shifting .
At idle the cluster is spinning the gear at idle speed , easy for the brass ring to grab and slow to engage

It WORKS!!!! hot smiley The new 2nd gear has resolved this transmission issue.

The lesson learned for me - don't let what seems to be good logic blind you when trying to find what is wrong and listen to the guys that have dealt with this stuff before. My logic said "two (rebuilt) transmissions cannot have the same failure, no way". That lead me to looking at everything else except for the actual answer... bad 2nd gear (missed during previous rebuild effort)

Did i mention that I can shift into 2nd with ease now!!!

I have been reading this thread since you first realized that you had a problem. I am glad that you finally have it fixed and running. I know that I was wondering how 2 rebuilt transmissions could have the same problem. Lessons learned for everyone. Congratulations , you deserve it.smileys with beersmileys with beer

Congratulations!!! that has got to feel really sweet now after all the times you have removed and installed the engine and transaxle this year! It reminds me of the year I went through with repeated differential failures. Ugh!!
