An interesting idea.
It seems that it would be subject to the same limitations that have stopped the Wankle, and Rotary Valve engines from ever being hugely successful.
The SEALS!
In fact, while reading some of the links in the recent rotary valve engine thread, I believe there was an antique engine that used a quite similar valving arrangement.
It breathed pretty good, but the seals wore out prematurely.

I always get skeptical when a company has blatant deception in the promo. Comparing their engine weight to an engine that includes a transmission and clutch (and probably starter) is wrong.
It is an interesting design. I can't imagine an air cooled engine passing modern EPA regs either. Some of this may have been addressed in the audio but I couldn't understand most of what he was saying because of the thick accent.

Thick accent???
No, when someone speaks THAT poorly, you can not even call it speaking english.
They has a TERRBLE teacher!
BUT, on the other hand, if you had turned on Closed Captioning (CC), you would have seen that while they did compare it to a motor cycle engine, the deducted the weight of the transmission and clutch-box.

Interesting. I wonder how they managed to figure the weight since the Yamaha is a single unit. It is good they tried.
