Anybody can do 120 with endless freeway.
Try it in 1 1/3 mile, on dirt, 10K pound M/H.

I do not think that a fully equipped GM motor home of that vintage weighed that much?

unlike other forms of racing, where Less is More, Land Speed actually ADDS weight to their vehicles for ballast.
It helps keep the vehicle glued down to the track at the speeds they run.
Both for traction, and stability.

WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here.
