() Date: March 11, 2023 06:26PM I have resently visited the junk yard and spent some time walking around. Found a really nice rear seat in a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo! Seems to fit real nice. I also got the seat belts to go with it. Installation will have some fabrication to do, for the top of the back mount and then mounts for the seat belts. Cool think is the colors work well with what I already have, so it's good enough the way it is. I'll post some pics of the brackets I make as I get it done. By the way there's still a filler strip that get's installed where the seat belts will attach. Also I plan on using fabric paint on the gray part to fix the faded area's. Probably be a month or so getting everything done though with my schedule. Will Teeter Flintstone, MD 65 Corsa project Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/11/2023 06:33PM by Willt65. () Date: March 11, 2023 08:21PM Anyone know what the weight of a factory fold down rear seat is? I never took the time to weigh it. I'm guessing this one is only around 30 lbs total. Great weight savings! I'll put it on the scale next time it's out. I saved a bunch of weight on the front seats as well! ![]() Will Teeter Flintstone, MD 65 Corsa project Re: New Rear Seat install. () Date: March 12, 2023 10:58PM Nice job Will, I used seat “cousins” of your Chevy choice. My seats are 2000 Pontiac GP coupe, leather, rear lower cushion fit without any mods and the upper cushion is bolted to stock LM Vair horizontal support member behind the cardboard shelf via the Pass Thru/Armrest. Built a new parcel shelf flush to headrests. ![]() Jimc 1965 Corsa Coupe, two owner history ![]() ![]() HACOA Member CORSA 2017 Concours Senior Gold Award AACA 2015 Award Re: New Rear Seat install. () Date: March 13, 2023 05:35AM Looks very nice! Seems theres not a lot of info out there for what cars to find good rear seats in. I wish we could make a list of models that worked. Granted mine will require some mounting fabrication that not everyone would have tools to perform,(I want to make mounts for the seatbelts.) but that could be stated in the list. When I searched, I did get some suggestions, however I think this one looks to work better than many that were mentioned. God's favor in me finding it! () Date: March 13, 2023 07:43AM 100 pounds? The seat back is a bit awkward to move around but I wouldn't guess it's that kind of weight. Maybe I'm wrong... Jim Brandberg Isanti, MN CorvairRepair.com ![]() Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
