I am not new to the forum but I am new-ish to Corvair ownership.

I grew up around these cars and have always been a fanatic of anything with a motor. My grandparents were active in the Dayton Corvair Club (OH) and I spent a lot of time going to club meetings, car shows, parades, and CORSA conventions in their 65 Monza Sedan and their 67 500 Sedan.

Unfortunately, I sold the very rusty 65 Monza when I was 18 and bought a 93 5.0 5 Speed fox body before going to college. Between then and now (almost 10 years) I have had multiple jeeps, C/K trucks, a 3rd gen Camaro, and other various vehicles. I have been searching for several years for a decent Corvair at a decent price.

I feel much more matured and patient and finally found a 65 Monza Coupe 110 4 Speed. After driving it home over 2 hours, I feel better prepared mentally and financially to thoroughly enjoy this car. It needs some work to be a safer and more reliable driver, but that’s just what I plan to do. Drive it and enjoy it.

I hope to rejoin the DCC and I was ecstatic to read that the CORSA convention could be in my backyard in 2024.

Vairy Cool, - a 2 hour drive is always good! thumbs up Lot betta than a 3 hour "Tour" on the Minnow!

I presume you are the happy kid in wearing the cap?

Dayton is one amazing city! What an astounding Tech. history! Looking forward to visiting again.

WELCOME BACK! Great history you have with these cars. I hope you can make it this June to Wisconsin Dells for the 2023 convention. I'll be on the lookout for you.

I saw that one for sale! Planning on keeping the faux-tina look?

Congratulations, hope you have a lot of fun with it!

There were some parts of owning my first Corvair back in the 70’s that I really enjoyed but other parts that weren’t much fun (mostly oil leaks, fumes in the cabin). When I got rid of that first Corvair I never expected to own another one.

My wife came across our current one online and all indications are it has been pampered all these years. No oil leaks within the shrouds, no fumes in the cabin and more fun that the original. I’ve owned it a little over 2 years and so happy I took the plunge.

Eric, yes I plan on keeping it. I’m going to put my efforts towards the mechanicals for now.

Tim, I probably won’t make it this year. Have a lot of trips planned already that don’t involve the Corvair, but if I can swing it I definitely will.
