() Date: March 08, 2023 08:39PM So I got the 140/PG running in the car today. I ran it several times on the ground, don’t remember the PG whining. Shifted it today through all gears. Initially it hard shifted into all gears. Now R seems to engage smooth, and D to L seems smooth, but still a hard slam in D from Neutral. The whine goes away in gear also. This a common problem? Haven’t driven car yet to see how it upshifts. gerg Monroe, LA Current cars and other fun stuff -> [gregblakeney.smugmug.com] Re: PG whine and hard shift into D Posted by:

I think this will need to be a little higher - haven’t looked it up yet. gerg Monroe, LA Current cars and other fun stuff -> [gregblakeney.smugmug.com] Re: PG whine and hard shift into D Posted by:

() Date: March 09, 2023 03:36PM Gerg, Did you rebuild the trans? It shouldn't slam into gear no mater how fast the idle is but a common cause is a broken accumulator spring under the band piston . Not sure about the whine unless the fluid is real low or something is wrong with the pump . Dan Brizendine, Circle City Corvairs '64 8 door Greenbrier, +.060, stroked 1/4", 188 ci, 140 PG. () Date: March 09, 2023 04:45PM I did not rebuild this PG. Has been in my shop for about 8 years. Previous owner (trusted friend) said it drove fine when I got the car from him. Fluid is full. Is a true 140 PG - all markings are present. Pump cover, valve body, governor body & gear. gerg Monroe, LA Current cars and other fun stuff -> [gregblakeney.smugmug.com] Re: PG whine and hard shift into D Posted by:

() Date: March 09, 2023 05:20PM The Dexron from Napa. Same stuff we put in Steve's '62. That is what I am thinking. I distinctly remember it slamming into reverse a few times the first day I shifted it. From D to L also. Does neither of those now. Whine 'may' be a little quieter now too. gerg Monroe, LA Current cars and other fun stuff -> [gregblakeney.smugmug.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
