XAA engine code?

I have a friend with an engine in his FC the code for which reads: (T)1201XAA
The T is obscured, but the 1201XAA is very clear.
Any ideas what this engine might be? I seem to recall that the X was for a replacement engine, but XAA?

Somewhere else hiding here is the thread I replied to also . . . I got tired of looking.
I have the case still. And it was from a 140 non-smog '66 I parted out.
