() Date: November 26, 2022 07:54PM One of my axles had a large, heavy washer installed where the “mushroom” dust cover would normally be. I would guess it’s a puller ring, but it’s larger in diameter than the puller ring on the axle. Has anyone seen this before? 1964 convertible - 110hp - Powerglide- 3.55 axle - central NC Re: EM rear bearing dust cover Posted by:

() Date: November 26, 2022 08:42PM No I have not!. Sure looks like the previous assembler of parts put a puller ring on there. Even has the bend in it. But larger OD you say. I take it is stuck on the shaft? Maybe it should not take much force to remove it. I also do not see the aluminum cover that the aluminum mushroom slips into. () Date: November 26, 2022 08:54PM It is friction-fit to the shaft, yes. I could pry it off easily with two flathead screwdrivers. It doesn’t seem to be hurting anything so I was planning to leave it on there. If I push it far enough it will lie flat against the bearing housing and impede the housing pivot action. In the picture it is installed with enough clearance not to make contact with the bearing housing or inhibit pivoting. The other axle has both the mushroom deflector and I believe the cover you are referring to; it has two tabs on the side that grip the cast housing. 1964 convertible - 110hp - Powerglide- 3.55 axle - central NC Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
