I bought this Zinc kit years ago for half the current price, but it does work well for small parts.

I have considered having some parts cad plated recently and looked online in my area. I too found a few places locally advertising they offer this service.
As of this moment, I have not followed up on the one most convenient to me so I can't offer any recommendations based on experience.

All I can suggest, is to look on line for cad plating southern Illinois and see what the results are. With a little luck, there will be someone relatively close.

I've had all my bolts plated. I have two companies that do all of my plating. One does all of my zinc plating,clear,yellow and black. Clear is the most durable. Yellow is fair and black is not durable at all. Cad plating is another story. I glass beaded all of my parts only to be told I waited my time. The company sandblast all of the parts before they plate them. I've asked other companies and it's the same drill with them. They want to make sure the surface is clean. Problem with that is you don't get a smooth finish. C and R plating does a really nice job on zinc plating. There located in Minneapolis Kansas.My Cad plater is Metal Finishing in Wichita Kansas.

The Zinc can be built up and sanded and polished to a smooth surface. If you sand through, you can add more zinc and polish again.
I plated the parts on this 1934 Emerson SeaGull about 12 years ago with the Eastwood kit. The black powder coating was from a Harbor Freight kit. The fan was a totally rusted mess and I had to sand blast every thing and rewind the motor windings. The decals are available on ebay.

@william pierson

I live north of Milwaukee WI and used this company in Green Bay a few years back and they were great about taking a small scale order from a hobbyist, and did a fantastic job.

and templated my process off of this short and sweet video:
