() Date: November 21, 2022 04:52PM I have put one in an UltraVan. Summit Racing has their name brand and the other that I use is IdidIt. I have put a similar co;umn in an early. They all need custom work, although Ididit will make custom column lenths. ![]() Ken Hand Handy Car Care 248 613 8586 Vairmech@aol.com Re: Aftermarket Tilt Steering Column ?? Posted by:

() Date: November 22, 2022 06:57AM I should be more specific, the particular car is a 67 Monza, I’m thinking a 67 Camaro might be a similar mount ??? 1964 Bill Thomas Monza Replica Racer 1964 Spyder Street Car 1998 Honda Prelude Dirt track car 1967 Crown V8 under construction Mike Levine Cumming Georgia North of Atlanta Re: Aftermarket Tilt Steering Column ?? () Date: November 22, 2022 08:08AM Here is the 67 column. It uses a ragjoint to a gearbox shaft coupler to join upper and lower column shafts. Ididit uses a splined coupler that fits to the larger upper shaft and to lower shaft. It uses Steering Coupler 3000054340, Rag Joint, 1 in. 48-Spline, 13/16 in. 36-Spline. Pretty sure you could adapt 67 & 68 (non-locking) column to the Vairs. Will have to do electrical work to mate column wiring to underdash harness. But that shouldn't be a big deal with the right connectors. Al Georgia Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: Aftermarket Tilt Steering Column ?? Posted by:

() Date: November 22, 2022 09:31AM A friend of mine collected a large quantity of Chevy Van Tilts from the wrecking yards (close to 500 over the last 20 years) He would supply them to a small company that would sell restored and converted tilts at the Pomana Swapmeet. I think it ultimately became "I Did It" I picked up a tilt at a local meet about two years ago. it is slated for conversion for the 8 door in the near future. We have been converting Colum Shift tilts for from GM's for years and moding them to fit everything for E,B,A,F and truck bodies for years. A little cutting, grinding, painting and universal joints is all it took. The Van tilts were the best for Pre-69 cars as they did not have the Key in collar and were made well into the 70's like that. () Date: November 22, 2022 10:19AM I believe that those van columns without the key lock went into the 80's? They were used in motorhomes for many years after the y stopped using them in the vans. I adapted one into my '72 Chev pu which was the same column other than the shaft length. RJ tools Salem,Oregon ![]() Re: Aftermarket Tilt Steering Column ?? Posted by:

() Date: November 22, 2022 12:39PM Mike - I am pretty sure the 67 Camaro tilt column from ididit would be an easy fit. You might need a little work down at the steering box, but it is pretty easy. In 67, when GM went to the collapsible column throughout the Chevy line-up, they made many of the parts interchangeable. 67-68 Camaros were pre-"key in the column" units, so that makes it easier. They come with a wiring adapter to fit the Corvair harness. If you want a price, let me know.
