Currently replacing the whole brake system in my LM. Since that requires removing the gas tank for proper (less fuss) installation, I'm considering replacing the anti-squeak material that was on the gas tank.

Any recommendations of where I could purchase anti-squeak material or substitute?

I know Clark's sells the material. But preference would be from a local auto store or big retailer (trying to avoid shipping delays), if folks are familiar with any that carries a decent product.

You could probably make one from a Bicycle Inner Tube if you happen to have one lying around.

If memory serves, it isn't much more than a couple strips of rubber but I could be mistaken.

Is roofing felt thick enough? Maybe doubled up?

The more plies of roofing material the more likely it is to shift in its placement. If you want to use rubber, then I would suggest roll roofing rubber. Trom what I remember, the original was some type of heavy paper material.

When I replaced the gas tank in my '65, Clark's was out of the anti squeak material. I went to So-Cal Speed Shop & purchased the Webbing that is put between the body & frame on a '32 ford chassis.Tank in color, 2" X 25'

I would think anything rubber would cause a squeak.

But, if it is in stock a Clark's, you will have it in just a few days & it will be correct.
