I want to thank my mother, in
1977 after I begged her for 3
days to let me buy my first car,
a 1966 corvair convertible. I was
17 years old and probably acted
like a 12 year old kid but she
finally agreed to use my own money
($350) and buy my first true love.
Two days after I owned it I ran
a stop sign and someone crashed into
me. Mom was right I wasn't mature enough
to own a vehicle but it was too late
at that point. Loved that car and
took care of it for as long as I had
it. Why do I mention this because
today is her birthday (October 2nd)
Thanks mom for letting me buy that silver
Corvair and Happy Birthday in heaven.

My Mother bought a brand new 1963 Monza Coupe. 102 with 4 speed. Black with Red and White interior.... From Taylor Chevrolet in Rochester New York.
That started the Palmer Corvair stories that continue today.
I still don't know why she chose White bucket seats for the interior, with 2 pre teen boys!
Well we both learned to drive in that Monza. And we both did everything stupid a teen could do with that car, and never had any incident.
That car i tracked down. It's buried near an oak tree in Lompoc Calif. That later owner needed to get rid of it???????

When the bottom fell out of Corvair prices my Dad started flipping them.

The rest is history and that makes me a Corvair Nut for 57 of my 68 years.
