New Corvair owner and I have a question that is stumping me. I recently bought a 63 900 convertible with an auto transmission. My reverse lights are disconnected and I have no idea where the reverse light switch is located. I found info on the standard trans, but not the powerglide. My mechanic is scratching his head as he thought there should be a switch on the trans but he can’t find it. Any help appreciated.

It's on the transmission gear selector lever.

The switch is part of the gear selector on the dash. At least on LMs.

Did you check the fuse?

Shop manual? Need 61 manual and 63 supplement. 63 assembly manual would also help.

It is mounted on the PG shifter on the instrument panel. If you are good, you can take shifter off the panel to get to the neutral safety / backup light switch assembly.

If you are capable, you can take it apart carefully and clean the contacts. If not, buy a replacement.

I have a few from LM cars I scrapped. I believe they arew the same. Watch out when removing clip. It can fly away on its on and never be seen again, until you shifter is back in the dash.

Also, the back up lamps are powered by the Heater Fuse.
