() Date: August 17, 2022 03:21PM I actually have two of these cams and both are NOS. The first is just the cam and card while the second is complete with Crower springs, pushrods, lifters, etc. Running a # search on the Crower site returns zero results. My next thought is to call them and ask for any archival info. However, before I do that, perhaps someone here has experience with the 05202 series cams? Both are marked 1 - x594 - H. The H I assume stands for hydraulic. From what little I can find online I believe they were produced in the mid 70's and are part of the Crower Corvair "Killer Cam" lineup? Many thanks in advance for any helpful info/insights ![]() San Juan Islands, WA 1966 Corsa Coupe 180/4 Marina Blue/Blue 1965 Corsa Coupe 140/4 Glacier Gray/Black Edited 1 time(s). I’m thinking about letting one go but need to determine the best application for them. If they are more for racing and less of a street cam then I’ll probably sell one or possibly both. I know Bob (DrYenko) mentioned he was familiar with the Crower 5201 so perhaps he’ll know a thing or two about these? () Date: August 18, 2022 07:04AM These cams are split duration with more on the exhaust. Durations given are best for a near full race engine with fully ported heads and larger exhaust tubes, to make best power. The 105 degree intake / exhaust overlap is also indicative of a full race cam, as this will make for a lumpy idle. Stock cams have this in the 112-114 degree range That won't drive very well on the street. But this cam would make a nice Corvair vintage road racing application. Cam should be dialed in and installed with about 4 degrees of crank timing advance to help mid range power. Interested in one of these for a upcoming Yenko Stinger engine build if you decide to sell one or both. For a street application, something like a Isky 280 makes a drive-able engine with more power than a stock 140 cam. Be careful with the regrinds sold today as they have been shown to have lifter " issues ". Hope this helps. PM sent Bob C Bob C aka Dryenko Dobson, NC 27017 Re: Crower Cam 05202 Posted by:

() Date: August 18, 2022 07:43AM Bob is spot on. That is a good vintage Dp type car cam. Crower made the 5000 series cams in the early 70's. I used the 5201 in street cars. It was like the older OT-30. It really performed well. I still most likely have an old Crower book somewhere with the 5000 cam lineup shown. () Date: August 18, 2022 08:03AM If you were to compare cam cards, in a apples to apples format, keep in mind the Crower degree numbers are figured at .040" of tappet lift. The modern standard is .050". Still a nice spicy offering from a giant in cam grinding. "Run She May, Shine She Must" Been Aircooled Since 1973 Northwest Ohio 45840 Re: Crower Cam 05202 Posted by:

I thought it was Bob that said he had used the 5201. ![]() Many thanks everyone for the helpful info. It appears I have a couple of fairly rare (but limited applications) racing cams just sitting around on the shelf that probably need to find new homes? I don’t see myself doing any racing builds anytime soon nor utilizing these cams as they were intended. The first is just the cam while the other is essentially a complete setup (cam, push rods, lifters, double springs, etc. For those of you that first expressed interest in the cams, shoot me a reasonable offer via pm. I’ll review those offers first and get back to you. I can also post a few more pics of the complete setup if necessary. Don't forget to entertain trades of your Crower cams for a cam and valve train parts that you can use in a street engine build. That's what I did with Ken Hand with a same vintage OT-30.
