Kelmark question and other blatherings

I get internet updates from SPORTS CAR DIGEST, today's message about a London concours featuring "...ultra-rare and highly significant Ferraris.", including this car, had me wondering.
The article states there were only two copies of this car built, Ferrari's first mid-engine V-12 road car. My question, was this the car that was inspiration for the Kelmark GT? Here's pics for comparison:

And on a completely different topic, testing my memory, see if you old timers (like me) remember doing this? Back before Armorall, or other dressings, did any of you mix sugar and water to shine up your blackwalls? Of course there was Comet (or Bon Ami) scrubbing powders or Bleche-white (if you were rich) for whitewalls. Think I've only ever owned two cars with whitewalls. Other favorites were paint thinner or brake fluid for blackwalls. What was your favorite?
